Along with it came this pre-34 combo. The EK has a blued core that seems to be a 2 piece stamping, and silver frame. It's too tightly mounted to check for mm or weigh

Yup, you guessed it, the HK's an add-on. The interesting thing is the backing for the HK. It may appear navy blue in the scan but it's black. Part of a chevron, part of a Sig rune, or something else? I always wind up with these weird backs

This just arrived today from my man in Porscheburg. A 34ish 3 placer with the newly baad Ehrendenkm?nze still in place. Apparently the HK was so embarrassed it decided to bail.

Some of you are prolly tired of seeing this, as I drag it out at the slightest provocation, but one lives in hope of an eventual ID. It doesn't really look like a multi-award ribbon, but it doesn't look like anything else, either. All I can say for sure is that it's been on the EK for a long time and it's got a fold consistent with being on a bar. Can soeone help me end this agony? BTW, the EK is an MFH with silver frame and nicely blued core.

I have a honkin' big (13") one of Ludendorff that I always figured was intended for some kind of monument but discarded due to the casting flaw. You can see 2 nubs on the back that were probably to be drilled and tapped for mounting.[attachmentid=38477]

Never seen a bow exactly like that, but I'd say it's more likely a wedding bow, worn by the groom on his uniform.
My photos are in complete chaos now, so could someone else post a wedding pic with bow?

A Saxon who fell on hard times but kept his pride.

Another Bavarian bar with a thank you from his southeastern neighbor. I've always been partial to the little man. I think I inherited my father's opinion of officers

And a post-war "flat back".

A well worn wartime piece.

Thanks dond, yours is a beauty, thanks for showing it! I really like these FA crosses for some reason, something about 'em, a heavy award of iron! If anyone else has some to share, 1 or 2 class, would love to see them! Or a "Vor Dem Fiende" bar!
Kind Regards,
Steve
Ask and it shall be given. On a strange but authentic ribbon.

BTW, his Bavarian Observer Badge is bad as well...
And his MG badge is worse. I'd kinda like King Tut's throne, though

Well, unfortunately the phots had been cut out from an album into which they had been securely pasted, so its not possible to determine if there is anything written on the back.
The paper on the backs can be removed by careful use of a damp sponge, gentle rubbing, and an artist's brush and water for the stubborn bits.

And the back.

Not what you're looking for, but another type of water carrier, this one soft, probably 2 gal. capacity. I imagine for horses or maybe MG's

You have a great deal of knowledge on this topic. My 5 Mark piece has the A mint mark, 1936, where was that mint? I had always wondered about German gold coins. I did get to see a Nazi marked gold bar once. It was about 4"x 1.5"x .5" with a nice eagle stamped on it. I don't know what it was worth. It was cool. Thanks.

The mint marks were:
A-Berlin
B- Vienna (Previously Hannover,1866-78)
D-Munich
E-Muldenhutten (Previously Dresden,1872-87)
F-Stuttgart
G-Karlsruhe
J-Hamburg

My humble contribution from the other end of the spectrum. A pre-1910 example with separate medallions.

So much for "burnt out"

Where can one buy this book?
I got mine from Sigmund Stephan several years ago. You could try Nimmergut's site, too. Or maybe AbeBooks.

I find it invaluable and use it all the time
except of course when I'm not paying attention enough
Same here. Mine's currently held together with a rubber band

And the back of the EK, showing a very off-center core half.
