Decree 192, of 26.1.1937

1. The recompenses that for campaign merits, they can be granted to generals, chiefs, officials and troop classes will be the following ones:

g) Campaign Medal.

10. The Campaign Medal will be granted to how many in an active way they intervene in operations or serve in the fire line during the minimum period that notices for each sector, having a different ribbon when it is about rearguard services.

Other data.

The size of the Medal is of 37 millimeters of external diameter, 3 millimeters of thick and 3 millimeters wide of the edge.

Finished in black and in gilt in the following parts: the whole edge of the obverse, the visible parts of the laureate swords, and, in the reverse, the eagle, even the claws that appear through the yoke, and the whole bar of the legend, less the ARRIBA ESPA?A.

In their upper a piece of 5 millimeters high, of which leaves a ring 16 millimeters of external diameter, where it hooks the bicolor ribbon, with black edges, of 30 millimeters, it connects in the simple pin.

Obverse. Shows up the strength of the Iberian temperament for the Spanish lion in frank fight with the mythological dragon, representing the communism. He has been reflected in the composition the moment of domain of Le?n that begins their definitive claw on the dragon that, on-line stylized, automated and lacking spirit, it is about being revolved.

As background to this group, the laureate appears, in gold, with a nascent sun in the superior quadrant of the right and the date of the Glorious Lift, 17 DE JULIO DE 1936 in the superior quadrant of the left.

Coinciding with the thick of the Medal and the width of the bar of the reverse, and also in gold, a edge contains, to the right, the laurels, and, to the left, the oak.

Reverse. Inspired the composition in the glorious ARRIBA ESPA?A, highlights the inscription like main topic, with characters in relief on the plan of depth that carry the ornamental elements. The eagle winner elevates Catholics Kings coat of arms, taking advantage of the logic of her symmetry to insert the yoke. The left wing marks the horizontal one peaceful, showing the ornamental luxury of its feathers; in the right, subject to the circular dominant rhythm in the composition, representing the continuous movement.

In the rest of the vain one, with marked simplicity, the sheaf of arrows to a side, unit symbol, with their first arrow indicating the vertical one upward, rightness, aspiration. These are TWO different awards

This is a CRUZ DE GUERRA, PARA JEFES (War Cross for Chiefs)

Created by Law of 14.3.1942 (Reglamento de Recompensas del Ej?rcito en tiempo de guerra) Wartime Awards Regulation for the Army

Really this plaque for the owner get the cross a second time. The have two small plates on the arms for engraving the date of award

For chiefs the plaque is of oxidized silver and the laurel and sword in bright gilt

For officers and NCOs he plaque is of bronze and the laurel and sword in bright gilt

Also exist the same WITH PALMES. The blue circle with the inscription AL MERITO EN CAMPA?A changes to red circle and the same inscription

The plaque add two gilt palmes over the laurel and swords

Created for royal decree by 3.8.1864. The red division is for wartime). This model is regulated by Decree 192/1937 by 21.1.1937 and Law of 14.3.1942

Dear and distinguished gentlemen

This is my first written in this forum, and serve these first lines to make a own presentation

In the first place I have to comment that my native language is the spanish, for that that in occasions my english maybe is not all the good one that it would be desirable

Then to give them the congratulation for the level of all the participants, as well as for the quality of most of the images

My knowledge is basically on Spanish ODM. My level is not as high as the one that I have seen in the section "Spain: Spanish Civil War Awards, Militaria & History", and I don't have specialization in german recompenses of this time

Anyway, in advance, I will be able several errors that I have observed, will go or contributing bigger information or identification to recompenses and emblems

The offer is it doesn't only for this period, but also for the rest of Spanish ODM, so much the Civil Orders, like for other medals of other times: Peninsular War, Carlist Wars or current medals

I have observed that they mention in some topics my page http://www.coleccionesmilitares.com like reference source. For lack of time and space in occasions the images and denomination of the medals appear only. Under petition, it could provide, in Spanish, the different regulations or rules

More complicated it is to obtain relationships of recipients, because I don't have access at these and my time for the investigation it is limited

I want to add that on the contrary that in other countries, most of the times the making of the ODM has been made to the private industry what has given place to numerous variants that sometimes makes difficult to date the medal

Several jeweler's or makers of great fame have existed, of those that unfortunately some hardly survives: CELADA, VILLANUEVA AND LAISECA, MEDINA, CEJALVO, SAZ, EGA?A that have usually "signed" their pieces. The rest is almost impossible to determine the maker

Others of my interests are the worlwide ribbons, like form of identifying the ODM, and the recompenses for Peacekeeping Operations
