    1. Hello,

I would like to know if anyone can provide me with information on this one,

I'm collection imperial for a year now, and many times have heard: train abteilung.

But now my question, what kind of troops is the train abteilung?

where there bavarian train abteilung troops?

      any information welcome.

I'm asking since I would like to put together a train-abteilung uniform/tunic, of course bavarian since that is what I'm focussing on.

      thanks!

    2. That is a terrible reflected tiny scan of the photo...

the pictures on his site are all quite small, and this isn't a scan but a picture taken when it was in the frame, sadly I don't have a better picture of it though..

wasn't able to buy the other awards as well, but instead, I bought an MVK 1st class with crown and swords, thanks to a tip from kevin in deva.

    3. The seller first had them complete in a frame with some items, such as the picture in the middle.

The spange wasn't in the frame, all items/medals where attached to the frame seperately around the picture.

I buy items from this seller for years now and know him well, he is to be trusted, I don't think he'd put them in a genuine frame and tried to sell as a set while they weren't, therefore I sure believe these items belonged together.

    4. the star under the Iron cross 1st class is the Malplaquet star as shown in the picture below.

Only 300 where awarded, only to this freikorps.

I am trying to buy what is left of the lot, I don't know if they are sold yet because the other awards are already gone.

I'm trying to buy the: Bavarian MVK 2nd class, Balten Kreuz 1st class,Iron cross 1st class, verwundete abzeichen 3e klasse(open frame).

If I succeed, at least 5 brothers and sisters remain together.

    5. Thanks for the info Chip, I think I can manage this way although I don't exactly know what kind of models the equipment are, but I'll figure it out, I don't think I'll need info on the unterhose etc. because it's not seen when displayed.

Thanks again, this sure helps out a lot!

Thanks for the link to the books Marcin Lewoszewski, they look pretty good, didn't know them yet, I think they are very helpfull and I'll one of them.

both thanks again, it sure helps me.

      -MVK 2nd class with swords

      -iron cross 2nd class

    7. thank you for the information, I bought it.

Here are some pictures of it, without ribbon.

I bought it form a trustworthy seller, a real imperial dealer.

Actually this was from an entire lot from a luitenant.

      he was awarder a malplaquete(only 300 excist),

the whole lot was over 2000 euro, someone bought only the malplaquete so the rest where up for sale(quite sad that the lot isn't together anymore).

this is the one it was awarded to:

after the war he served in the Freikorps von Diebitsch, consisiting of 938 men and fought at Kurland,Litauen and the Polish border before it dissapeared in the Reichswehr, it consisted of 46.Sachsische Landwehr,MG-Komp.Abt.52 en 3 en Esk.Jager zu Pferd 8.

    8. I have another question, this time about the Militair verdienst medal from Imperial bavaria.

I have been offered a geuine 1st class(gold colored with black/white core with swords) and 2nd class(silver colored with black/white core, with swords) for my collection.

How many 1st class awards where awarded(I read somewhere 300.000?)

would 225,- euro be much for it?

and the second class also around 300.000?

would 175,- be a good price?

of course, in a bavarian collection, these medals are a must, I have only begun collecting Bavarian last year(had imperial collection for longer), and these are missing for now, I have no clue what they would cost nowadays.

      thanks for the help.

    9. maybe a stupid question, especially from someone that collects Imperial uniforms for a few years now.

But I am trying to put together another Field-grey uniform and I started to wonder about the equipment.(I don't have books about it, can't find a good one). The uniforms I have,I have put together from pictures and information on the internet, not alwaya a good idea I have noticed.

Could someone tell me what exactly the WW1 field-grey uniform should consist of?

What should be on the belt/bag etc. and is there a certain way it should be worn(bajonet on the right, water cannister on the left etc.)

if someone could please list the entire equipment for a standard uniform and how it should be worn I would very much apreciate it! :jumping:

If you have pictures and model types form the equipment it would even be better.

Maybe also some information about pre-ww1 uniforms?

      thank you in advance!

      kind regards,

      Roeland

    10. nice medals for sure, :jumping:

we can't ecpect everyone to buy the most rare medals such as a genuine Pour le merite at once, and these are just perfect for every collection, even I can't resist buying them when they are low priced, they look great!, aren't expensive and should be at the start of every imperial medal collection.

Great addition, and an original ribbon for the Kyffhauser one can be found easy on eBay.

    11. quite sad that people are that naive and take advantage of one another.

Just like the WW2 Ritterkreuz of the iron cross, only a few thousands awared, from which a lot got destroyed/lost at the end of the war in combat and de-nazification by it's owners.

Nowadays, each day 50.000 are sold on the internet from which 1/3 of it's sellers claims it's genuine, that means +-15.000 real knights crosses every day while only 7028 where made.

      Now I'll do the maths 7028 - the lost/destroyed ones= 15.000 a day for sale??????

Am I that bad in Maths?

people always hope to get a high rare award for a bargain on the internet such as these PLM's which are clearly fake.

      How many where made?

and how many are offered on the internet every day..........

      a discrace

    12. Hello Noor,

actually I it's a commemorative coin/medal for 1888 when Kaiser Wilhelm II came to power.

Not official for wearing, I believe yours is for soldiers.

I have this one and a variant(civil) in my collection.

They are very common, yours is genuine.

don't know what kind of ribbon it should but I guess what Kevin says, the German tri-color one.

don't know Brians one, havent seen one with that backside before but I do think is information is correct for his one(commemorative for a regiment?).

here's a picture of the variant:
