Where, oh where, would you find a picture of Krusty with a giant red circle with a line through it? Is there a site that caters to the taste of clown-haters?

On a more serious note, you see groups with two red banners but the second is another red baner, not a 'second awarding' version. Is there a reason for this, such as the 'second awarding' versions were produced after the soldier had been given his medal?

Great stuff people! The Red Banner is one of those medals that makes pretty much any collector stop and go 'wow'. The workmanship on some of these pieces is just astounding and some of the deeds attached to them are incredible. All up, one heck of an award.

Oooohh! Nice! Can't imagine that Bulgarian military merit being too cheap. Does the medal differ alot from the original war-time verison?

Nice stuff Ed, were the North West Frontier 1936-37 and North West Frontier 1937-39 bars the only two issued for this medal? And is the reverse the same as the 1908 India medal?

I would think there are very, very few units that would be entitled to four bars on the campaign medal.

Also, is there any way to tell whether a Turkish Crimean campaign medal was issued to an individual or unit? Any one know the award criteria, or was simply a 'i was there' medal?

This is certainly one of the more underrated medals out there. Bit of a pity really.

Quick question for Ed though, what orders collar is George V wearing in the medal (the collar with the elephants) and what does Kaisar-I-Hind mean?

What i was told when i purchased the booklet was that the man had fought at Leningrad and had then captured by the Germans and then released at the end of the war.

The colours, orange and black, were also used on the St George cross and later the Soviet Order of glory and ww2 victory medal if i remember correctly.
