Sorry to revive such a dead thread, but I am building an Uhlan senior NCO kit and was wondering if anyone could advise on a question or two regarding the chevrons.
1) Was the wear of the chevrons still authorised into WW1? If so, did they JUST remain authorised for wear or did they continue to be awarded during the conflict as well?
2) What were the requirements to earn the decoration? (Assuming the criteria was standardised) Or was it left up to the Commanders to simply award as they saw fit?
3) I’ve heard discussions regarding the awarding of similar chevrons for sword proficiency amongst other (non-lancer) units. Can anyone advise if this was the case or not?
