the dagger itself was given to him as an award weapon, thus has a brass plate with engraved date and name and words As An Award at the guard, and the star is red atop of the handle

this belonged to one of soviet admirals, who began his military career long before the ww2.
Had also two Orders of lenin, and multiple high awards, including foreign. After the war he was a commander of Leningrad Navy District

Stoo, Doc, hi men and glad to see you again too!
thanks for the warm words.
Rich, I have to say that it's a bit hard nowadays to find a railways star here in Russia. And they cost alot.
I haven't seen them even at the club-sale of militaria collectors (AKA The Club, which takes place every saturday in one of our local DKs - Dom Kultury - Culture House).

sorry for the poor quality and very small pictures - I am on probation thus the size is limited, and also my camera can't provide the quality needed.

priv purchase train mech driver cap, came to me directly from the wearer-owner. Was purchased and sewn in the one of the Leningrad?private?cloth?stores somewhere in 1970-ies. The?driver,?Vyacheslav?Tikhonov,?is?the?father?of?my?former?colleague.

the thing is definitely handmade. and I bet it will be proven if the badge will be disassembled: you'll see the way how the screw is welded to the star. I am talking about that large sign, not yours, Rich.
