I was undder the impression that
the laws down under would
prevent an export license
from being granted,
so if it is in AU it will stay there

its only a guess,
but it might be Albanian
problem is there is little written
about Imperial Albainian medals

OK,
looks interesting,
but wire transfers are going to cost about $12 each,
and the impression I got from some German friends
is that when they do them, they are either free,
or about the cost of a 1st class stamp,
is something like that possible for us in the USA?
yes, I know $12 is better than what Wells Fargo wanted to charge,
just want to be sure I'm not missing something
thanks

while I would love to have a euro account
and be able to wire money at low cost
[the way it seems to work in europe]
as far as I can tell
banking laws in the USA
seem to prevent that sort of thing
although perhaps someone can explain
how it can be done, legally

oops - make that 3 Bavarian RC medals
starting from the EK, #4, 7, 9 - all Weimar period,
thanks for the Saxon, Thuringia clarification
learning about period geography has been difficult
[but then I still have trouble with geography
even in the USA where I've always lived here]

Brauneisreuther is a nice guy in a nice uniform that may be close
but he is wearing 2 Bavarian RC awards of the Weimar period
and the Bavarian awards are of higher class and indicate longer service
than the Prussian RC 3rd class that comes further down the medal bar
don't know what that tells us about him...
but it is a great picture

I've got this Shoulder Board
not my usual thing but it was
advertised as American Red Cross
which of course it is not....
it looks similar to German boards I've seen
but I don't think it is German Red Cross,
from the insignia I think its Medical corps
but that's as much as I can figure
can someone tell me the rest of the story?
thanks

I can't say I like the weak dollar,
not only do things cost me more,
but those euro folks are not so
happy to see my dollars as they
once were - and finding euros
to send them is rather difficult

I had dealings with at least 8 bulgarian dealers,
they all sell on ebay, they all have feedback over 98%
its rather what you are looking for
each has his own special niche
and with most dealers, what's important is
to establish a relationship
as the good stuff that was fairly common 3 years ago
just isn't showing up as much
but the good ones have want lists
and email when something nice shows up

regarding the merit medal,
besides the difference in cases
isn't there also a difference in construction
I have one, I imagine early version
which uses hard enamel for all the color parts
while later versions, hard enamel is only used for
the red cross, and the blue and white circles are soft enamel,
there is perhaps another version where it is all soft enamel

I'm not certain about era's
the blood donor medals on the blue ribbons
start I think in the 70's,
the one some are saying may be on the wrong ribbon
may go back to the 50's
but I have seen it as I have shown if many times
either some evil soul reribboned some loose medals
or perhaps some actually came that way
without information itis hardd to date medals
would that I had the luxury of only buying cased medals
[with original, not replacement cases]
then you could use cases to help date
but the best thing would be to have award certificates
with the medals - many red cross societies have
virutally no information about their obsolete awards
oh, well, I guessss that give us something to do

Hungarian Red Cross merit
I don't have much information on any of these medals
and suffer as Hungarian is not a language I can read
there are a bunch of badges
I may post latter, but need to verify
that they are all Hungarian, as some Bulgarian may have slipped in
while the socialist period has nice medals
I really do prefer the medals of the regency period
those will make me drool
hopefully some of you may shed more light on these

Hungarian Red Cross 100th Anniversary medal
I think I also have a table medal for this
but the cased medals don't fit in the display case

nice example
the keyboard shortcuts work with some fonts
but not with all
depends on what scheme the fonts are encoded in
using the windows utility
keyboard map will let you know the correct codes for your font
I try to use Iso standard keyboard map ISO-8859-1
as some cannot handle UTF-8 well
[esp win98 users]

no
what I had in mind were - not necessarily all
but ones I've had to know, & use -
the the sharp S or double ss or ess-zett
the tz
the ch
the ck
the thorn
the double f
the st
[sorry, no pictures]
in printing they are not so much trouble
but when written, it is possible to puzzle
for some time as to what it might be

while it is a nice alphabet
it does not include the special letters
which anyone wanting to work with fractur
will need to know

OK
so its the
"Kivalo Dolgozo"
Excellent Workers Badge
for the Red Cross
and since I have the later case
probably from the 1960's-70's
thanks.

Here's a picture of something I know almost nothing about,
perhaps some kind soul would enlighten me as to what it is,
and about what era.
thanks

if money had been no object I would have bought it,
and it did sell for about half what I paid for a 1st class
a few years back - this particular fantasy was said to
be sold by Klietmann himself at an OMSA convention.
As for Fantasies andd fakes....
I do fall victim to them from time to time
so many Red Cross medals are simply not documented
although this is less likely in the case of German awards;;
and the german states during the weimar period had some
awfully nice awards - if I had to specialize
that would be the one I'd choose
but they are showing up few and far between

I understand that the
Daniel A Carrion Order
is given by the Peruvian government
for Medical Merit.
I know that the 1st class is a star
but I don't know how many classes
it comes it - and I don't know what the
ribbon looks like - would apprecite any help.
thanks
what is pictured is some other class
not even certain its size, as it has not yet arrived.

many thanks
the person selling this thing
tried to make me feel like an idiot
and then came up with a good story
giving his offering irresistable provenance
but as the saying goes,
if its too good to be true,
it probably is....
here's what was being offered,
rather pretty I thought

Researchable Red Cross medal group?
in Germany: Weimar Republic & Deutsche Freikorps
Posted
I've got a medal groups that may be researchable,
the EK is a 3 piece with magnetic core,
maker marked A on the ring.
but from my point of view,
the jewel is the Stadt Weinheim 12 year service medal
engraved on the back
Scholz August
1922-1934
so does anyone have any ideas
on how to learn something about this man??
thanks
