    1. ORDER OF THE OCTOBER REVOLUTION

... and the matching Soviet Order for the upcoming event:

Oustanding fine example from Igor's website: http://www.collectrussia.com/DISPITEM.HTM?ITEM=17259

      Best regards

      Christian

Thanks, is good, that you have reminded of an anniversary of October. 90 years - the big day. And as all is fast is forgotten. Has passed 23 years and all this so it is far. It seemed that it not.

    2. No it's not enamel. It is painted. Those are the Franch Adrian helmet pattern that were used during WWI by the tsarist army. After that the Soviet replaced the Romanov crest for a Soviet star like this.

The helmet from Sergey seems to have been repainted. Normally those are not shiny like this one.

All truly this helmet is painted anew. However a basis of Russian Adrian. I have shown it as an example of the Soviet helmets.

    3. Спасибо Сергей! Мне нравятся твои каски.

I like the SSh-40 model from 1944 with cloth liner. It looks great. Are the SSh-36 ground dug?

Here is an interesting thread on Soviet helmets : http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=5660

Thanks for warm words in Russian. Yes you are right some helmets are found in a place of fights Kareliy, Vyazma. And Ssh-39 I by in rural fire group. After removals they have been given to armies of Ssh-39 helmets in fire group. And I became the owner of one of them. I too love pre-war Soviet helmets. Especially I like model 36. Sometimes the ground changes color of a helmet with green for absolutely another .For example is last 36 where color red.But I became always glad to a find of the next subject.

    4. Hi Paul, no problem with the names! :)

SSh-39 are in my opinion easier to find than WWII SSh-40. The SSh-39 model was made I think from 1939 until 1943 and the SSh-40 model was made from 1940 until the 1960's. Unfortunately many post-war SSh40 have altered stamps on the inside to make them pass as WWII pieces. The thing is that the early post-war SSh-40 helmets are sometimes not distinguishable from WWII SSh-40 helmets.

I shall try to put illustrations for told

    5. Great pics Sergey! I saw some of these helmets elsewhere with a red star painted on the front. Was this common for WW2 helmets or would it have been done post-war?

Excuse for the late answer. I leaved from the house and had no opportunity to answer. Belaruski correctly was responsible for me. All this so. However the size of a star was identical. However knowing Russian character it is possible to assume, that there were also exceptions of a rule.

    6. That is a great example, Sergy. I would like to find a reasonably priced example for my uniform.

Even now it is possible to find a helmet-36 .But a problem is available in sending a helmet from Russia. Customs rules forbid it to make. It is possible to send subjects of a uniform from a material having written that it is a man's jacket. However this subject and its form it will be well visible in the item of mail. However I shall try to receive the information at customs and I shall inform.
