Some interesting militaria on display too, some of it sadly is in bright daylight, which will eventually fade the paperwork to nothing, and it won't do the
cloth stuff much good either, I did mention this to one of the curators while I was there, but not sure if the message sank in or not.
I love that bullion 5th AAF patch !
Best wishes

And being ex Corps of Signals, some memories of my time with these HF and VHF sets, the vehicle mounted VHF 524 set, the iconic AN/PRC 25 set
and its big brother, the AN/PRC 77, along with its vehicle mount as well.
On the HF range, one of my old favourites, The GRC 106 set, which comprised the Radio RT-622 GRC and the
Amplifier. Radio Frequencey AM-2249/GRC 106.
There is also a great pre and post WW2 selection of other radios too.

Hi all,
We have just returned from a visit to South Australia, basically to catch up with our son and his family, as they have just added another
small member of the clan into the world, but while there, I took the opportunity to visit a nice little military vehicle museum, situated in
the Adelaide suburb of Edinborough. The vehicles are mainly British/Commonwealth with a smattering of US as well.
Hope you like the pix...

Your lot sold bum souvenirs to the Yanks! Shocking!!!!
(I notice it doesn't say "AND to their own gullible mates!" )
The shame of it all, now the truth is out....

Hi all,
Yesterday I was in the city for a meeting at Anzac House, which is situated in Collins Street, Melbourne, and was given the opportunity
to take a couple of photos of some of the memorabilia on display there.
I hope you find the photos of interest,
Best wishes

Very nice Jock.
Here is another trumpet banner, it just sold on the WAF's for sale section (US), and sadly not to me, but a nice
one with a little bit of damage to the fringe, for Bad Aibling.

I would love to see some photos of them Jock if possible ??
I have seen trumpet banners with the tyes, and also with clips too, I guess there would be slight variations in the
lengths of the hangers etc, I only have the one, so can't really show any other variations.
Best wishes

What means EM tunic?
EM is a US term for Enlisted Man,
An enlisted rank (also known as an enlisted grade or enlisted rate) is, in most militaries, any rank below that of a commissioned officer or warrant officer. The term can also be inclusive of non-commissioned officers. In most cases, enlisted service personnel perform jobs specific to their own occupational specialty, as opposed to the more generalized command responsibilities of commissioned officers.
British Armed ForcesIn the British Armed Forces and the armed force of other Commonwealth countries (except Canada), the equivalent term in respect of armies and air forces is Other Rank (or OR for short), while navies use the term rating.
Canadian ForcesIn the Canadian Forces, the term non-commissioned member (NCM) is used.
North Atlantic Treaty OrganizationIn the "standard rank scale" maintained by the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, non-commissioned ranks are coded OR1–OR9 (bottom to top), OR being an abbreviation for Other Ranks.
United States Armed ForcesIn the United States Air Force, this job specialty is known as an Air Force Specialty Code, in the United States Army and United States Marine Corps, a Military Occupational Specialty, and in the United States Navy and United States Coast Guard, a naval rating.

Hi Bob,
How far apart are the ties on the flag if you don't mind me asking?
Would it fit a fanfare trumpet?
Cheers
Jock:)
Hi Jock
Yes it is for a fanfare trumpet, the ties are approx 37 CM apart.
Hope this helps,
Best wishes

Hi John
My new Schellenbaum banner is now gracing my collection. I am very thankful to Bill Rannow in the US for allowing me to
be the new owner of this beauty, for Luftflotte 3...

Thanks John.
I have actually just moved this one to Bill Shea (it was once in his personal collection), and has gone back home again !
I have another one which I will post some photos of shortly, slightly better condition than this one, and a rare unit designation.
Cheers

Mervyn,
You would be entitled to the National Service Medal, and the Australian Defence Medal I think. You should apply for them,
they will give you a nice little reminder of your time here in Oz way back when....
Cheers
Bob
Very interesting - I thought the Defence Force was soon after the War but had forgotten dates. I was never a Regular - I did my
National Service in the Sydney Light Anti-aircraft regt. - 40mm Bofors. When I returned from Sth. Africa in 1960 I joined the CMF
in the Queensland Regt.. I didn't do much with them as I was off to Thailand for 3 1/2 years. Strangely, I'm told that I'm probably
entitled to two medals - Aust. was one of the few Countries to allow them for NS. I wouldn't have the 'cheek' to even ask about them. Mervyn

The one on the left is a smoke grenade, grooves in the stick so it can be identified more easily (at night)..
Bob
The one on the left is pretty cool.. I must admit, I have not seem one like that before.

Thanks Paul,
Here is another one with trapezoid insignia, this one is the type more commonly encountered, the private purchase type of
M43 cap, although finding one with trapezoid insignia is still difficult...

If you are in the area, it is a great little museum, and well worth the 8 bucks to get in the door...
