...nice Salzburg 1939 tinnie...most others I've seen have completely lost the 'frosted' look that yours retains... ...I did once upon a time see the official printed program for that event...but I don't collect such things myself....I'd rather reserve my 'fighting chest' for the collecting of SA tinnies... This site is steadily growing...the tinnie section has a rather small hard-core of collectors and contributors...some, like you, collect all types of tinnies...one or two target one branch, i.e, me with SA...another guy with HJ.... ...either way...there's no point in having these items to just lock them away...it's nice to brag (I mean share!) what we have found... ...I think the collecting of tinnies is steadily increasing every year....so what we now each own will one day become highly sought after by the collectors of the future... ...there are other 'militaria' forums which feature tinnies...some with more than what is found on GMIC....but here it's not about quantity...it's about a 'gentlemanly' interest...a chance to show our collection to other interested parties in a refined manner..... -

Hi Brooks, I also have that Meissen-made 'Dresden' disc....it's about 50mm dia...I'm not sure that it was a 'tinnie' as such...maybe more of a 'I was there' type of thing...either way, I was glad to buy it...a great piece with that bold looking SA motif... ...I do know that there were smaller Meissen discs, about 37mm dia, which were worn with the aid of a brass like clip attachment....I posted a couple of mine a few pages ago.... ...it really is amazing the amount of material used in making 'tinnies'... ...and as nice as your 'Autobahn' items are, do they belong in the SA tinnie database ??? I conceed that your 8 years of collecting have certainly brought you some amazing finds...I'm a relative newcomer to this field...only one year so far... ...please keep sharing what you've found ! -

...nice tinnies Pete... ...#114....an early 'Blue Peter' ?? ...#116...plastic....very nice...I believe plastic 'tinnies' are so very collectable....they're usually in far better condition than all other materials....with the detail retaining an almost 'just made' crispness... ...very nice! -
...my two penny opinon... ...what I've done in the past was to post a group shot of the tinnies that I knew to already exist within the database (or thread)....thereby avoiding numerous repeats...but that's not to say that everyone else should do the same... ...I just felt it avoided seeing the same thing over and over again.... ...but if your particular tinnie is in better condition than an earlier posting, then why not brag a bit ! ...there's no point in collecting if you can't show off now and again

...my only contact with Tieste was when I asked him a few questions..all of which were answered promptly.... ...I found that it was more profitable to target only one branch of tinnie's for collecting...there's simply far too many out there! ...I have to admit to getting a kick out of finding a tinnie that isn't listed in the Tieste books....seems all the more special because of that... ...and I'm sure I speak for everyone else here...we won't complain about seeing your tinnies, in fact, the more the merrier! Regards. -

..you do seem to have a wide range of tinnies, judging from what you've posted so far....is it safe to assume that they are the result of a few years collecting ? ...do you favour any particular organisation or is it more of a general interest in all things 'tinnie' ? -

...I get the feeling that the 'SA tinnie database' will be the Nr.1 'organisational' database for the forseeable future! ...to my mind, four things make up the perfect SA tinnie... ...1/ use of eagle......2/ use of 'hakenkreuz'...3/ use of SA runic emblem....and more importantly...4/ that said SA tinnie is MINE ! ...the poor winter daylight does not do this fine tinnie justice... "10 Jahre SA u. NSDAP, Niederwiesa 20 August 1939" . -
...personaly speaking....I can't understand why anyone would want to look at anything else other than SA tinnies.... ..they are simply the best thing available.... ...but seriously... ...splitting the various tinnies into their respective organisations would be a great idea...making it a whole lot easier to jump to each of 'our' favourites... ...a big pat on the back for the one who has to do it though!
