Kay,I think the cross was once cleaned very rough-I had a "CD800" with the same look(also treated totally wrong)...

MFH....it's an MFH marking!I've got more than 300 different ones-just variations and more variations. It's a long way

I have to disagree-after comparing this one with all maker marked pieces in my collection without success I've asked Grueni(excessive '39 EKII collector).he told me it's the "standard" one-always unmarked and still unidentified.

This is not a case for an iron cross.I remember something like your set was sold by DN a few years ago-we discussed it at a German forum and someone brought up it's something civilian(farming, breeding ect). When I have found it I will post it here.

You are talking about a complete list of the recipients of the '39 EKII? I'm sure there is nothing like that!

This is one of the makers I have seen only exactly this core design in combination with this maker mark!So no variations(but never say never).And-"MFH" is far away from being common.just the condition ......

Troy,in the end you will find out that nearly every combination between different cores and different maker marks is possible. With a few exceptions,of course....

Hard to tell...think it must be around 40 left(I've kicked out all the common ones...just two gladiators left!) And no,nothing else Luftschuz related. My iron crosses are in the pool position!

You are absolutely right-it's not only the"8" that gives this cross a red flag-it's also the 9th bead of the crown(9th bead fake). So nothing you want to spend your money for...

Well-textbook Zimmerman(LDO made)-if you compare the matching blued core variation you can see that it#s not only the core matching....the frames are identical, too!
here's the matching pinback for comparison-the maker mark is atypical located in the middle of the backplate.

It is! especially when you have it in your hands! .I thought I had stopped collecting LS helmets......wrong.The russian ones are of course really beautys-I've got just two of them, the Ssh36 and 39.Both of them in good conditions with the full LS wings.

1870 EKII
in Germany: All Eras: The Iron Cross

Never seen a good one maker marked.Once I came across a K.A.G marked example with core Type B(1st classes marked with Godet).the cross was good, the ring for sure a replacement taken by from a '14 EKII and used for a repair.I wouldn't by such an EK!
