Hello,
I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on these badges. From the PAB thread , I gather that the Panzer is the fake ball-hinge type. I like the IAB , but the GAB I am not sure of. I thank everyone in advance for any help!

Thanks to you both! While still not 100% certain , I really do like the badge. I realize ownership might affect my objectivity , but I still cannot find anything wrong with the badge that would leave me with doubts.
The mark is a dead-ringer , of course , but another detail that has me very close to convinced is the buntmetal color showing thru on the worn parts of the eagle. This would suggest much more care went into it's production than one normally sees on fakes. The color is exactly like that which I've seen on other Osang buntmetal eagles and was just what I was hoping to find upon this badge's arrival. Between that , the maker mark , and the hand-finishing marks , I just cannot believe this piece is a fake.
I am very pleased with it , but still encourage anyone with doubts to post them. Thanks again!

On the last photo , one can see the file marks that go around nearly the entire edge. Here are some more photos showing these...

the maker mark and center rivet...

and the hinge and right rivet...

And a close-up , again showing the buntmetal poking through.

This badge has arrived and I've taken some detailed close-ups. I also have measurements. I like the look of it , but would enjoy hearing all opinions , good or bad.
It weighs exactly 34 grams and the wreath is just a hair shy of 1.75 inches wide and 2.25 inches high.
First , a couple of shots of the eagle. It looks exactly like a buntmetal with silver finish. You can see the finish is worn off on the high spots revealing the brass-colored metal underneath.

Marcus,
Do you want more pics of the badge or the case? Either way , just let me know. I would like to hear any opinions on this case or badge. The badge is obviously good , but I haven't seen another case exactly like this one. However , I must say , I am certain is it original. Thanks for any help!

Nice! I have seen some authentic badges with postwar maker marks , but this one has the same toning as the rest of the badge , which leads me to believe it was applied at the time of manufacture. It that one extremely heavy , as well? This was easily the heaviest Luftwaffe badge I've handled. The number '5' is an interesting lead. Maybe we can follow it somewhere.

Thanks!
They look exactly the same to me except for the hinge. When I get it , I take detailed closeups and post them. Maybe we will know more then.

Thanks , don! I've used your threads many times before , but didn't see this one in there in semi-hollow version. I probably just missed it. They have always been a great help to me.

1st Pattern Juncker O/G - Aluminum?
in Germany: Third Reich: Wehrmacht Medals, Decorations & Awards

Hello,
I just received this badge and was amazed at how light it is. It only weighs 24.1 grams. Can anyone tell me if that is normal or is part or all of the badge aluminum? It is that very light color I sometimes see in aluminum badges. Thanks for any help!
