Well done Christophe
That right, The Ardent Class ship of the line HMS Agamemnon was nicknamed "eggs and bacon" by her crew.

'Eggs and Bacon' was a ship not an English breakfast, wasn't it? :D

Hi guys
Nelson's band of brothers (act. 1798) were the Royal Navy captains who served under the command of Rear-Admiral Sir Horatio Nelson while he pursued the French expeditionary force led by Napoleon Bonaparte to Egypt, and in the decisive battle of the Nile on 1 August 1798.

The A7V Sturmpanzerwagen Wotan Tank was a cool Tank, one of my favorites of WWI.
It had a large crew I belive it had 16 men that operated it and it had 2 drivers. A messenger would get out and run to the next tank to pass information of movement. Very nice photo of one in operation, do you know where it was taken? The motor was in the middle of the tank wich made it uncomfortable for the crew.
Thank you for sharing:
Lorenzo
"Wotan" was actually the name of the tank. In the M?nster Tank Musem there is a replica of Wagen 563 "Wotan" Below is a list of the Numbers, names and what happened to the tanks.

Hi,
Hard to see much of the cap badges, but LI regiments have the distinctive horn and the KOYLI the 'French' Horn and White Rose which is, i think smaller than the badges they are wearing.

Thanks, I did find some other things from a car board I posted to. I found very limited info on the web about it.
I found this web page here http://www.cdnheroes.com/tribute/bkilf11.htm
the back translates as "Constancy is not always to say the same thing, but always to persist in the same thing" I know 500 were given out. That's about all I know. Any other feedback would be much appreciated
The American Numismatic Society have it listed in there database, its the bottom one on this page:
http://numismatics.org/collection/accnum/l...available=false
Might be worth contacting them?

4th bar = 10, 15, 20 and the ubiquitous Armed Forces "Distinguished" Service Medal.
Note that every one of the Armed Forces long service medals here has the Roman numerals printed so the stripes are blue-white-green. The only cloth ones I have seen, singles cased with each medal, are the exact opposite-- green-white-blue.
= NO comrades could tell proper up from down? Or did different branches of the Revolutionary Armed Forces wear "their" color on the left?
I also find it odd that the RAF long services are worn 10-15-20 rather than the normal Communist Bloc system 20-15-10.
Huh.
But then MOUNTED groups provide us with information loose singles do not.
This one is partly correct, the 10 year ribbon is the right way, the other two back to front
strange, very strange.

Hi lowkey,
Maybe someone else can help with the value of the medallion
Here is info on who he was
Desiderius Erasmus Roterodamus
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Erasmus
Info on the medallion:
measurements: 50.4 mm
weight: 48.568 g
person: Erasmus of Rotterdam
obverse type: Head of Erasmus, l.
obverse legend: E/RAS/MVS/RO/TE/RO/DA/MVS/ 14/69/19/69
reverse type: Drawing
reverse legend: NON/EST/CONSTANTIA/SEMPER/ EADEM/LOQVI,/SED/SEMPER/ EODEM/PERTENDERE
The dates on the obverse would indicate a commemorative medallion 500 year aniversary?

Hello Kevin:
Here is my reading of * 6 followed by my tranlation:
"Liebe Lina.
And in English:
"Dear Lina.
I have received your parcel with many thanks and I was very pleased.
As you write your rabbit had 5 little ones.
3 packages black ???
I have always waited for your cigarette packages."
Bernhard H. Holst
I think you will find that he means drei pakete schwarze, as in tabak (tobacco)

For those interested in the early American awards here is a very interesting link to a Gutenberg e-book
http://www.gutenberg.org/files/21880/21880-h/21880-h.htm
Lots of interesting paperwork and background details are included for the medals seen earlier in this thread.

Very interesting, nice bars Rick.
The thing I find really strange is the number of "mistakes" on medal bars and medals alike.
Ribbons mounted back to front, wrong ribbons etc and now the long service examples in your bars.
Surely there must be a plausible reason for this.
Another question mark in a long line of.......... question marks
Regards Eddie.

Hi Alexandre,
The left one would be the 1914-1918 War Cross, middle possibly the medal of the revolution and the third, not a clue. the only other Czech WWI medal that comes to mind would be the Victory Medal and the ribbon seems to be different.
Maybe French I suppose, i think he served in France?

Words spoken, on his deathbed, by Admiral Horatio Nelson to Captain Thomas Hardy.
Battle of Trafalgar, 21st October 1805.
Nelson last words were:
"Take care of my dear Lady Hamilton, Hardy, take care of poor Lady Hamilton". He paused then said very faintly, "Kiss me, Hardy". This, Hardy did, on the cheek. Nelson then said, "Now I am satisfied. Thank God I have done my duty".
