    1. WOW that is 1/72 nd scale isn't it Laurence? If so an amazing amount of detail you should be commended. Even at 1/35 my eyes get tired. I have now moved onto to Dragon 1/6 not so much painting LOL.

Wonderful stuff and great detail thanks for sharing it with us.

    2. Hello Gentlemen

I would like to share with you one of the project I have been working on over the past while.

The display consist of the drill tunic, M40 Luftwaffe helmet, unmarked period brown belt, a well worn alum.drop tail buckle with just a slight hint of tropical paint marked R.S.&S., lastly a set of Flak Unteroffizier shoulder boards. Brown K98 ammo pouch also in the mail to me, I hope to fit this on also. See period picture.

It should be noted that I have been told that there are pictures of Luftwaffe personal wearing shoulder boards with drill tunics. I have taken the liberty of laying them on the tunic but not attaching them as there are no loops or button for them.

Hope you enjoy the display and if anyone has a picture of Luftwaffe personal wearing shoulder boards I would love to see them.

      Regards

    3. It isn't. Here's how it should look.

The Special Service Medal was authorized in the early 1990s. The Clasp for him is probably NATO - the most common. Although awarded late, it is classed as a War Medal, and so takes precedence over the UN and Commission medals.

His peacekeeping service would also qualify him for the Peacekeeping Service Medal.

      Thank you.

Note to self. Don't take pictures while upside down, looking through a miror while drinking beer.

    4. I recently purchased these medal bars. What I found interesting

was the progression of medals that the service man received.

In the first group is the Canadian Forces Decoration which has two rosettes denoting over

32 years of service (12 years for the medal and 10 years for each rosette), QE II Silver

Jubilee Medal (only 7000 issued to Canadian personal), International Commission of

Control and Supervision Viet Nam 1973 (only 240 Canadian service personal were

assigned), UNEFME 73-79 (11,500 issued to Canadians).

Next the ribbon bar shows the addition of Special Service Medal. The medal was issued

with bars but it is unknown which one this person got.

Last bar has the US Legion of Merit ribbon. This medal could be issued to foreign

      personal.

All in all this person had a great career in the Canadian military.

In the picture you will notice two of the medal bars with the Legion of Merit. One now resides with Reliy1965. Hope did not steal your tunder Doc!

    5. Good day Gentlemen

I would like to share with you one of my finds.

I couple of years ago a picked up a group of WW1 medals to a SJT. P.G. Webster s/n 152000 (what a great s/n!) of the CASC.

In early October of 2006 while on lunch I was going through an antique shop and saw a small medal in case from The Adlershot Command Athletic Association inside was a medal issued to a P.G. Webster driver for the 5th Canadian Division, Team Wrestling on Horseback winners.

I was dumbfounded and quickly purchased the medal. Since all the medals were purchased in my home town I can guess that at auction somehow the group was separated but fortunately I was able to regroup as it were.

Take heart fellow collectors sometimes the medal Gods do shine on you and here is proof of that.

      Regards
