    1. Several Red Army elite units existed during the Russian Civil War in 1918-20.

Most famous of them were Estonian and Latvian Red Riflemen units. Lenin used thouse units as his body guards.

Here you can see a badge of the Latvian Red Riflemen issued to commemorate a 50th anniversary of the unit.

The badge is big and heavy. It has a multipiece construction and a screwback attaching system.

      It`s a quite rare badge.

    2. See above.

Always useful to look for earlier threads.

Thank you for your very informative response.

Diameter of my medal is 37 mm, not 31 mm like you said in your above post.

Also I am not able to determine which is a correct ribbon for this medal and when was this awarded.

What does mean the maker mark ? on the medal?

The dates 1909-1379 on the medal ?

Maybe there is someone who can answer on my questions?

      Thanks,

    3. A military currency is a fiscal instrument to ruin an economy of the conquered states.

      It`s always set to inflate.

A history of the military currency began hundreds years ago.

    4. What an interesting topic. Curious how they printed them in English?

Not only in English. They also printed in Dutch for Netherlandish India (De Japansche Regeering insteed of The Japanese Government). Considering the anti-netherlandish stand on Java and Sumatra the Dutch text was changed to Javanese (Pemerintah Dai Nippon) in 1943.

Here is 100 Rupees for Burma (B for Burma).
