    1. I have NEVER seen a Bundeswehr soldier wearing is full medal bar in full dress uniform on parade. The only pics I ever saw to the contrary were of serving bundeswehr WW2 vets wearing their 57ers, and they weren't on parade, these were personal or studio portraits.

Does ANYBODY have ANY pics of modern (fairly recent) Bundeswehr parades in full dress uniform where medals are worn? I would love to see some!! Because until I do... I'll be resigned to believing this is only tolerated in this brigade.

    2. That used to be one of the best places this side of the Herring-Pond. The Platt people and their Kampmann descendants were perfectly delightful; I owe them some items in my collection I would never have bought if they had not guided me; They are now my pride.

      It's a pitty.

The catalogues are still quite good, though.

When's the last time you were able to actually purchase an item from one of their catalogs? I've been trying in vain for over 4 years... :banger:

    3. I never have any trouble getting into Maison Platt. They're not over-friendly, I'll grant you that, but they are 'correct'.

Really? I got about 3 feet in when the "gent" ran out from behind his desk looking at me like I had busted through a locked door or front window, bluntly and ever so coldly asked what I wanted, when I mentioned a few items from his "3 day old catalog" he said everything was gone. When I ask if I could have a look around he asked me to leave claiming he was very busy. Within a short minute of walking in, and after a 20+ minute walk to get there, my wife and I were looking at each other in utter amazement, back out on the sidewalk... We talked with other militaria dealers in a few km radius and according to them, this is the norm there.

I informed Markus of this via PM prior to his trip there a few months ago, upon his return he described his personal experience there as quite similar to mine.

    4. Just a personal opinion here...

The helmet looks more like a firefighter's helmet than a military one... The crossed rifles make me think of a shooting club...

    5. The brigadier general at far right is easily identified as a member of the Border Guard Service of the FSB by his cap eagle and cockade.

TacHel, this man from Custom Service...

Actually my friend, we were both wrong about the brigadier at right...

He's also from the Federal Agency for Narcotics Control (FSKN - ФСКН). He's wearing the old uniform and old hat badge...

    6. The picture below was taken at an FSB academy graduation.

The brigadier general at far right is easily identified as a member of the Border Guard Service of the FSB by his cap eagle and cockade.

The 2 other general officers though I am unsure, they wear the cockade of the Interior Ministry but their cap eagles are completely unknown to me! Can anybody shed some light on this? New model for FSB officers? Got a picture?

    7. Wow - high prasie. Thanks gents.

But if you look at www.planetfigure.com you will see stuff that is far superior to my work. I will take him along to a model show in Philly early next year and see how he does. After that he will either remain in my collection or move on. It may be a job of work prying him out of my older daughter's hands though.

I did check it... Yours was the best there. Most others are kits or general personna, yours is a specific person from scratch, not that easy.

    8. I will print out a couple of pix and send them off to General Dallaire. Hopefully he gets a chuckle out of it. I'll let you know.

I think you underestimate your talent! And I think general Dallaire will get more than a chuckle out of it... If I were you, I'd include my full address and phone number and make sure I'd have a very good pic of him handy... Just in case he decides to drop by, you can have him autograph it. Don't think this unlikely... You might just be extremely surprised.

    9. What would be nice is to know what is written right after: Sergent fourrier Lecourtois a droit

This translates into "has the right to" which might tell you exactly what the 2 other citations might be so you can have the proper ribbon devices on the CdG.
