He was killed in a flying accident in 1981.
    2. MY GREAT-GRANDFATHER'S MEDALS FOR SERVICE IN THE ANGLO-BOER WAR 1899-1902 - BURGER WILLIAM WALLACE My great-grandfather fought, as a Scot, for the Boers as part of the Irish Brigade. This is one of very few medals to this scarce unit. He was wounded in the Natal campaign and spent nearly three years as a P.O.W.

The collection includes a rare South African Air Force badge that was only used in 1922.

    6. PORTRAIT OF MY GRANDFATHER: SARGEANT WILLIAM WALLACE My grandfather was a 17 year old veteran of the 1922 strike in Johannesburg and was a member of the Transvaal Scottish Regiment. During WW2 he saw service in North Africa and Italy.

The family influence on matters military encouraged me to become a proffessional soldier and officer in the South African Army. The following photographs are of items that have been with me and part of my life for many years.

    17. Hi Brett, Thank you for the kind words. The group was awarded to Captain M. Landsberg of the Umvoti Mounted Rifles. . During the Anglo-Zulu War he was the RSM of the Border Hussars and took part in the Battle of Nditzane. His photograph is in Curzon's badge book. He was an Intelligence Officer in both the Boer War and 1906 rebellion, hence the clap "NATAL" on the QSA. Regards, Will
