Excellent Gordon! Looking at the close-ups it's hard to understand with all those big, medium and small flak guns, that they couldn't shoot down a slow-as Swordfish before it delivered the Bismarck's death blow.

Hi Mark,
Sorry for my delay in replying, I didn't know the answer & had to do some research to try & find out.
Here a some pix of the award.
Cheers
Don
Hi Ulsterman, I bought a Preussen Landesverband Ehrenkreuz 3. Klasse, but judging from the photo Don provided with the urkunde, I can't tell the difference between my third class and the 2nd class in Dons photo. Can you enlighten me at all? I also thought mine was missing its ribbon ring, only having a jump ring, but it appears, again judging by Dons photo, that it is complete and they didn't have a jump ring plus a ribbon ring. Is that the case?

My latest tinnie, Neuguinea 1936! I'm not sure where it is supposed to go, so if someone wants to move it, all good!

I spotted this and would like some advice please. The rear of the EKI is engraved with balloon observer Lieutenant Karl Sander 08/01/1917. What do you think, does it strike you as real? Thanks again gents!

Thanks Greg, I will ask for some closer photos, I was just wondering what was meant by 'earlier small form'?

Saw this from a well known German dealer, can anyone give me an opinion please? I am still learning about 1870 EKIIs, and this one is described as:
Prussia, eiserrnes cross II.Klasse 1870 with the old original band, early smaller form
What is the early smaller form? Sorry the photos aren'e the closest. Thanks gents!

I am getting ready to buy my first 1870 EKII, and have seen five on the Weitze site now, but I'm confused! Two with the 25 year oakleaves, both condition 2, but one is 550 euros and the other is 600 euros. If they are both condition 2 shoutldn't they be the same price? Sorry if I'm being simplistic here! There is another condition 2 for 475 euros, and yet another condition 2 for 600. Why would the 600 one be more than one with the oakleaves attachment for 550 or 600?
There is also a condition 2-3 for 375 euros. I don't understand why you would prefer to pay 600 for a condition 2 without oakleaves when you could get a 25 year clasp for the same price, or even for slightly less (550). All condition 2. I can understand the condition 2-3 for 375, as it is clearly marked as not in as good condition as the other four, but I am confused about the other four and their similar condtion but wildly differing prices, especially as two of them have the 25 year clasp.

Nice set Mel, and my better half often comments that I look much happier when there is a package to be opened when I get home than I am when I see her!
