I am wondering whether our man was a roving diplomat maybe involved in the resettlement of displaced persons. Non red cross but could be society of friends, Quakers who were heavily involved in such work.

Owain,
Stanislauses were awarded by the White forces into the early 1920s though most recipients purchased their own insignia

The earlier one has some age and is emergency period (WW2). The one on ebay looks like a piece of cheap modern crap. While I wouldn't give a brass farthing for the ebay piece, I might give a few quid for the earlier one because it has seen some action although technically unless it happened to belong to de Valera it is probably of minimal value.

Now that is considerably rarer than the insignia.

Seems to me about the right price, not cheap but not expensive assuming it's either for France and Belgium or Egypt. For other theatres it's a bargain. Check the london Gazette.

Lovely photo. I am sure that some one in the arts field with that level of high awards should be identifiable.

I have this star with a large consignment of Chinese material. I am afraid it has me stumped and help gladly received.

It's loosely based on a coin of Abdul Hamid II bearing the accession year AH 1293 (1876). I have seen similar pieces in gilt metal which were suspensed to the wedding dresses of those who couldnt afford the gold. Fun but nothing of consequence.

Alex's looks full sized to me but by their nature miniature regimental badges are rare as they were generally worn by non Russian soldiers and cadets who served in the Russian army prior to WW1 as miniatures were only worn by Russians who served in the overseas diplomatic service.

Very nice however no sign of a hallmark which a lesser George should possess. If gilt metal then probably theatrical.
