You will find kanji on the box lid
Kenkoku Shinbyou Souken Kinen Shou
LOL! Thanks! I know it's on the lid (but I don't have one), so I was hoping to have it written out for me...

Ok, I know this is a Dark Navy Blue Ribbon medal forum, but I decided to ask here anyway... I just got this Blue Ribbon Merit Medal and wanted to confirm a few things.
Recipient's name = Otaki Koujirou
Date = April 29, 1965 (日九十二月四年十四和昭 = Showa Juyon Nen Shi-gatsu Nijuku-nichi)
Also, what do the 2 kanji characters above the recipient's name represent?
Thanks again!

Kankoku Heigou Kinen Shou
I am! I love to know everything about what I'm collecting. Pronunciation of European and Eastern Baltic/Russian decorations is not a problem, but when I get into decorations of Asian origin, I'm in trouble! Glad to have you all around to fill in the blanks!

Hi everyone,
Just picked this one up a few days ago and was hoping you all could confirm/provide some information? From what I've gathered, this is an "Army Sharpshooting Proficiency Badge, 3rd. Class", correct?
- I was wondering if you can tell from the photos as to what time period this would be (after 1912 from what I've read)?
- Can someone provide the Japanese kanji for this badge, as well as the Romanization for the kanji (example; Order of the Rising Sun (旭日章, Kyokujitsu-shō)?
I like to catalog my collection with accurate names, translations and history/info, so any information you all can provide would be wonderful!
Thanks!

Hi Nick,
Thanks for the info! I was looking around online for a Japanese calendar database/translator, and from what I found, the bar shows (if I'm reading this correctly): 日二十二月一十年八十和昭
Shouldn't that be?: Showa Juhachi Toshi Juichi-Gatsu Nijuni-Nichi = November 22, 1943
If I'm not translating correctly, please let me know!
Thanks!
Jason
I forgot to ask, but would "Showa Juhachi Toshi Juichi-Gatsu Nijuni-Nichi" be the proper way to say the date?

Hi everyone!
Just got this one a few days ago and need some help with the translation of the date bar. I know it's "Showa 18" (1943), but that's all I know.
Thanks!

I double checked mine, and it is definitely an "F", and not a "P". Here are the photos...

I'll take a photo shortly and post it in a few moments.

I have read where there is a capital "P" on them sometimes (no explanation for what that makers mark is for either), but no information found on a capital "F". Anyone?
Thank you,
Jason

Hello everyone,
I have a Prussian Verdienstkreuz für Kriegshilfe that has a capital "F" mint mark on the reverse, right under the hole for the ring mount. I was wondering if anyone was familiar with this maker's mark? I haven't been able to find anything on it as of yet.
Thank you,
Jason

Saschaw,
Thank you very much! I did not know this. I guess my follow up question would be:
- Would one ever find a Prussian Campaign Medal for 1813-1814, with an original ribbon, in a tri-fold (as in the Saxon or Austrian) style?
I have found a medal that I am interested in purchasing, and it is on a home made trifold ribbon that appears to be original to the period, or at least a VERY old replacement. I am just wondering if this would be something that one would have traditionally been encountered for medals from that time?
Thank you again, and best regards,
Jason

Hello everyone,
I only collect Imperial German orders and medals that are on original parade/court mounts (traditional mounting styles to a particular German State or Kingdom). One area that I don't have too much expertise in is those original mountings from the early 1800's. I was hoping someone could show me some original mountings for those Prussian medals from that time period, specifically the Prussian Campaign Medal for 1813-1814 (Kriegs-Denkmünze für 1813-1814).
Thank you,
Jason

So, this is a shooting award, or a badge for a royal shooting club then?
Thanks!
