    1. Hi,

I need your help - I am asking for informations about the life and military career of Julius Ferdinand Wilhelm GREGOROVIUS,

1871 Oberst and Kommandant der 2. Fußabteilung des Ostpreußischen Feldartillerie Regiments Nr.1

(later: Feld-Artillerie-Regiment Prinz August von Preußen (1. Lithauisches ) Nr.1)

      ... around 1882 ausser Dienste.

So I'm searching for any informations (service records, awards, etc. ...) and portraits about him! rolleyes.gif

Thank you for any help you can give me! cheers.gif

      Best regards,

      Jens

... there are two regimental histories:

      von Fhr. v. Troschke, Berlin 1872, Verlag E. S. Mittler u. Sohn, 280 Seiten."

... and an other one from 1939:

      "Das Feldartillerie-Regiment 'Prinz August von Preußen (1. Litth.) Nr. 1 - 1772-1919."

(Schriftenreihe: Aus Deutschlands großer Zeit. Ehem. preuß. Truppenteile Band 118.)

    4. No.4 Gefreiter in M1888 Dunkelblau Waffenrock.

I have a question regarding this portrait: could you please identify the regiment? Some regiment from XXI.Armee Korps (according to green shoulder straps)?

      Hi,

Straubing is a city in the east of Bavaria - maybe it's a Jäger (Kgl. Bayer. 1. Jäger-Bataillon König) ???

No.1 Gefreiter of the Infanterie-Regiment von Lützow (2.Rheinisches) Nr. 25

      .. the picture is before 1910 (1888 - 1910 Rastatt, after 1910 Aachen).

      Best regards, cheers.gif

    5. Have been looking at some pics of highre officers, Really high officers with boxes of medals and pin back awards...

It seems that if ever they "dress down" the awards they still leave on is the EK1 and maybe its ribbon... inspite of having other, higher awards....

Why do you think this is? or am I imagining it?

      All the best

      Chris

Hi Chris, you know this book ("Das alte Heer" von einem Stabsoffizier): Das Alte Heer - Google Bücher

He wrote also something about the awards (I scaned the pages about Orden & Ehrenzeichen and put a PDF-file here):

Download DasAlteHeerOrden.pdf from Sendspace.com - send big files the easy way

.. you have to click on: Download Link: DasAlteHeerOrden.pdf

Have fun and best regards, cheers.gif

    6. Hallo gentlemen,

I need your help to identify a person from this CDV, on the back is written:

"Mit herzlichen Glückwunsch zum Geburtstage - Dein treuer Neffe Hauptmann Hans M...?..."

He wear an IOD, so probably he was an infantery officier, two cockades on the cap; so after 1997.

I checked the ranklist 1903 for an infanterie Hautmann "M...?..." (XVI. AK) but I can't find one.

I will be very appreciate for any information about him!

      Thanks and best regards,

      Jens
