You need to use the German spelling....Brezel.... ;-)
Chris, I checked this too - but also no Brezel/Bretzel...: EPN_1263261493_0533.jpg 1600 × 2451 Pixel
... also I can't find the name in the iron-cross Seniorenverzeichnis from march 1863.

Hi,
first picture: (Gustav Hans) Günther P a u l u s (* 17. Okt. 1898 in Rawitsch/Posen)
Begann als Kadett und trat am 10. Aug. 1914 zum Königs-Inf.-Regt. Nr.145, mehrere Gefechte als
Fähnrich an der Westfront, erhielt am 1. Sept.
And the second picture I also found in the net - unfortunately I can't rember where.
Best regards,
Jens

There are a couple Feld-Artillerie Regiments with a Crown, cypher, and bomb underneath... But none that I can find with the L as the cypher...
We'll have to wait for Chip...
Hi Chris!
Yes, it is a bomb underneath an L.
FAR 29 (Württemberg). The L stands for Prinzregent Luitpold v. Bayern
Hi,
I agree with Andreas - it's the cypher from the Feld-Artillerie-Regiment Prinz-Regent Luitpold von Bayern (2. Württembergisches) Nr.29
Best regards,
Jens

Hi Chris,
maybe one of this!?
- Inf.-Rgt. 81, since 1871 Frankfurt/Main
- Feld-Art.-Rgt. 11 (parts), 1868 - 1872 Frankfurt/Main
Best regards,
Jens
Addition: I think it could be: Heinrich Karl Söldner, Sek.-Lieut. i. d. Res. d. 1. Hess. Inf.-Rgts. Nr.81 !?!
(Königlich Preussische Ordensliste 1877 - Seite 938)

Hi Chris,
nice tunic - one question: what is the size of this small stars (13 or 15 mm)!?
(a "regular" star for an Oberleutnant is around 17 mm.)
Thanks & best regards,
Jens

Hallo Sonja,

... and was there certificates, cheers, Paul
Hi Paul,
in the last years, I saw only two bavarian (framed) certificates for the Königsabzeichen (1. Komp., bay. 21. Inf.-Rgt. 1911 & 4. Komp., bay. 13. Inf.-Rgt. 1912).
I've never seen a prussain certificate for the Kaiserabzeichen. A complete winner-list you will find here: Kaiserpreis (Schiesswettbewerb von 1895 bis 1913) – GenWiki
Best regards,
Jens

Hello!
The Rangliste can´t help; he wears is own uniform, so he´s not attached to that unit. He´ll be a member of an official visit of the german army. I´d like to know the reason!
Hi Andreas, I think so too! Thx.
Hallo Prussian,
maybe probationer from Whampoa Academy?
Cheers,
Nick
Hi Nick,
that's a good idea with the Whampoa Academy, see also Sino-German cooperation.
Thanks and best regards,
Jens

Hello guys,
thank you very much for your great help!!!
@Nick: great, so a 2nd lieutenant from the Chinese nationalist army! Thank you for your detailed informations!
@Rick & Andy: sorry - I forgot to tell, it's the 13. (Minenwerfer)-Kompanie from the 12. Infanterie-Regiment, on the back the picture is dated between 1926 -1930.
I have three big pictures from the Minenwerfer-Kompanie, from 1922 - 1926, from 1926 - 1930 and from 1930 - 1934.
And here a better close-up from the officers: Stab 13. Minenwerfer-Kompanie 12IR
Bataillonskommandeur (III. Btl. 1928-1930): Major Buchholz; Kompaniechef 13. (MW.)-Komp. (1926-1932): Hauptmann v. Werder.
On weekend I will check the regimentel history, maybe something is writing about a chinese officier!? (I will tell you.*)
Thanks again and best regards,
Jens
* nothing found about a foreign officier in the regimentel history.
