hi guys,
sorry to drag up this old thread but i have received this CDV along with ceveral other CDV's and it shows the wearer with what looks like a gibraltar cuff tittle .
He also has what looks like bandsman swallows nests on his uniform.
hope you like it.

Thanks for that info Rick .
I am pretty new to the imperial stuff but i liked the postcard due to the medals on the mans chest.
here is another postcard that arrived today.
it has 1906 stamped in the left hand corner .
Is this the date that it was taken?

HI Chris,i am sure that Freiwilliger means free willing meaning that he volunteered for service and was not called up or conscripted.
I am sure that some of the other more knowledgable people on here will be able to verify that

HI Jerome ,
Many thanks for the additional information.
Unfortunatly you cannot see the coller boards that well in the actual picture.
I have just started collecting pictures and postcards from Britain and Germany.
Here is another one of the German pictures that i have.
As you can see he has just been awarded his EK 2nd class and is sharing the moment with his comrades
Here is a close up of the soldier in question

Many thanks Tony for the information.
This makes it all a bit clearer now.
I will post up some more of my very small collection of postcards at another time.
Again thanks for the information

and here is a close up of the helmet.
I bought this postcard purely because he was wearing his EK2nd class.

Hi guys.
This is my first post .
I have bought this postcard due to the nice pickelhaube the man is wearing and i have been told that it is a guard regiment due to the Guarde star on the front but the plume(if that is the right word) is not for a guard regiment.
I have also scanned the back of the postcard but it doesn't really help.
It states that he belonged to the 2nd dragoon guards
Could anyone on here shed some light on this for me?
Many thanks

hi guys,i am doing a bit of research into my grandmothers military service during ww2 .
I am looking for any pictures of RAF Wig Bay near Stranraer during the war.
Any help would be appreciated and will help piece together a very fractured jigsaw.
Again many thanks in advance

Hi guys,
Here is the start of my Imperial postcard collection.
I have picked up a couple over the last year and have decided to let you guys see it.
It is not a big collection but i am now leaning towards collecting CDV cards.
Here is the first one
might look a bit familiar to some as i have posted it elsewhere on the forum.
