Looks like you're doing extremely well. Much more than my pile!
When are we going to see what's inside??!

All,
Comparing I think this too is an unmarked '27'. Would you agree?

Is going to be impossible to tell from those pictures until there is a maker mark on the ribbon ring?
You need pics like this to identify it by details alone.

Very useful comparison shots guys. Can this be saved somewhere for handiness for everyone to access when needed?

Thanks Kevin and Perce.
I got the stands from German Ebay. They are sold there quite often.

Another interesting discussion regarding these crosses.
I was going to ask, how does one know if the centre is real gold or not but after studying the cross that started this thread with the later examples posted, which are confirmed as real gold, one can see that the quaility of the external rim of the medallion is different in appearance. You can see the real gold examples are smooth, polished and a slightly different shade from the gilded cross, whereas the first one the rim is the same colour as the rest of the cross and is rough in appearance.
Is my observation correct in determining real gold from the 'upgraded' pieces?

I would guess the case is a TR era piece and coverted for this cross. Perhaps a '30s piece?
Very nice though!

In posts 6 & 7 I can see, what looks like, red thread. Can you check it out and let us know what it is? I'm wondering if this has been 'upgraded' from a flak tunic to flight??

Fantastic photo. Can't help you request but I do wonder what the history is as to why this pilot retired! Wounded? - I see no wound badges. Perhaps psychological?

Folks
Your kind comments are most graciously received. For those who enquired, the line up is left, light Godet '21' and to the right, a Klein '134'.

Eder, Emil Obfw.d.R 8./Grenadier-Regiment 132 DKiG 25.08.1944
As far as I can make out, Grenadier-Regiment 132 was part of the 44 Infanterie Division was, i believe, is also known as "Hoch und Deutschmeister" ??
Did this DKiG belong to Eder? Well, we'll never know...

Perce,
There is a website that lists KG55 losses and is contained in .pdf format. You could try there first and then if not found you can discount it from being from this kampfgeschwader.
