    1. Rich, strikes again!!

Any names on the packets Rich?

      Allan

Allan, Yes both have names but I haven yet been able to decypher them! Working on it though!

      Hi

      All nice crosses. :beer::rolleyes:

      Nesredep

      Thanks!

      Rich,

I think the sharing and exchange of components amongst manufacturers is an acceptable hypothesis. . .

Indeed but what gets me is why use L15 instead of L/15 unless Orth was producing them for Schickle and created their own marking stamp minus the '/'...

    2. I especially like the EK2 with the blue packet - it looks to have a great patina.

Danny, I looks untounched under that delicious patina. The flange has turned completely blue/black over the years.

      Rich, that's a rare Schickle (L15) variant. . .

      Bill,

It's a very interesting piece. Excellent condition but the piece is exactly the same core/frame as the '15' Orth pieces yet the marking is L15 and the catch is typical Schickle... so there must have been some exchanging of components or one or the other lost their license to continue to sell these and the other firm was permitted to use up their remaining stock??

Thanks for the comments, guys. Yes, I've been on a little roll lately. :jumping:

    3. That's my favourite maker of all the 1914 EKs.

Robin, I have to admit, I'm really like this one. I admired them from afar and now it's in the hand I really rate it in my top 2!

      richard-

i love the clean lines and thin flange of this

      particular cross.

Joe, That's exactly why I favour it too!

      Thanks for the comments, guys.

    4. The second one does look very much like a K&Q even down to the matt finish core, remember though we see K&Qs with 2 different cores!...the so called "short 3" and "long 3", does it not match either of those??

      Dave,

You are a star! You've just confirmed what I was suspecting... Only yesterday I was looking at another '65' online and found it matched mine exactly. From there I was beginning to wonder if there were 2 cores!!

      Thanks mate!

      Rich

    5. Thanks for the comments and for trying to ID them! Some of the differences between makers are minute... I was sure the 2nd was K&Q from the frame ribbing until I got to the '3' in 1939 and then realised they did not match.

This is the condition I like my EKII's in...untouched from the day they were handed out. Underneath that 60 year old patina are two beautiful crosses!
