Superb as always!
One question on the Short Range Day Fighter in Bronze, is the recessed section void of the concentric rings? It looks that way and wondered if it was just the scan.

Fran?ois,
What can you tell us about it? Inquiring minds would like to know more!
I notice the spirit levels... logically I think this would be near impossible to maintain level on board a combat aircraft?! So I wonder what is their purpose?

It is an amazing and yet as you say somewhat chilling helmet.
As much as I would welcome a DD WSS helmet in my collection I just don't know if I could have one of this pedigree. The Dachau part of it's history is just maybe too much for me.
Hope to see many more of your fine helmet collection grace these screens.

Interesting converted EK2's but with no history that's all they can be, converted EK2's.
Dave,
Can't tell from your pictures but is the loop an original?

The two together. Both are standard pin-back.

Nice and unusual conversion. Haven't seen the Cruz de Guerra converted like that before.
Here's one of my two. Awarded to DKiG winner, Karl Hentschel JG77.

I strongly believe this clasp to be fake.

UPDATE!
The seller kindly sent me a scan of the document they have for the 1st class spange to the EK1 1914.

Goes to show that Juncker was not the premiere maker many hold them as. From what I see, pre-war badges are superb, then it all goes to hell somewhere after that!

I'll try to get better pics for you this week-end.

You are unbelieveable!!!
I thought perhaps there might be a grainy photo, or a few scraps of info but this...this is just superb!
Attached is the very Cruz de Guerra that Hentschel is wearing in the photo.
I bought this from German ebay and unfortunately missed the ribbon bar. It was only later after receiving the cross that I thought to ask the seller if the recipient was known. This was the name that was given and the seller has some additional docs that they are keeping one mentioned was the 1st cl spange for EK1.
Amazing!
Many thanks Rick!

Hello once again!
Would anyone have further information on this luftwaffe officier:
Karl Hentschel, Hptm of II Gruppe, JG77 during the early stages of the BoB? I understand they were based in Stavanger/Trondheim and were part of the order of battle for BoB.
He later received the DKiG and was a veteran of the Spanish Civil war.
If you can add anything further or even a picture please post here.
Thanks!

Close, Rich. All zinc AG/FE badges look very similar. Another case of the makers working from the same designer's tech? drawings, me thinks.

Thanks for the side-by-side comparison. Yes, I can see the minute differences now. I would agree with your assumption of using the same spec or the same die cutter made both (what is the possibility of the latter?).

Stan,
Interesting badge! Is this not the same eagle as found on the Juncker/Deumer badge?

As promised, here are a few better photos. You can see that the lightening-bolts have been very carefully removed.

So you see, know your subject and you will find very nice original objects
Exactly!
That's why I stopped collecting 'everything' and narrowed my collecting area considerably. Concentrating in specific areas has paid off in many ways.
Nice glider badges!

Day fighter clasps
in Germany: Third Reich: Wehrmacht Medals, Decorations & Awards

I for one do not know. I was curious as it was strongly implied on another thread I had elsewhere relating to clasps that the rings were indicative of originality on early i.e. tombac, fighter clasps.
I questioned it but no-one else wanted to get involved in that discussion.
However, your clasp, I think proves that the statement made was incorrect. On your clasp I see nothing to indicate anything other than an original.
