Hello RIch,
Very nice 'Fliegerbluse', congratulations on that one
My suggestion => give the Fliegerbluse a Glider pilots badge
Cordial greetings,
Stijn, thanks for the suggestion but alas I have no glider badge (I think you have them all )
Beautiful tunic as well! It makes a great back drop for your RK.Are there only one set of loops for a badge? A fallschirmjager badge would look great! Everyone adorns their flight piped officer tunics with aviation badges.
Paul, thanks. There is 2 sets of loops, 1 vertical and 1 horizontal. Fallschirj?ger is certainly a possibility!
Yes, a very nice tunic. For the price of a Pilot/Observer award you could get another tunic! Personally, I like the Observers best.
Thanks. I already have a pilot/observer badge so that not going to be a problem!
Hello!Amazing Fligerbluse.I like the Fallshirmj?ger badge best.
All the best
Nesredep
Thanks, Nesredep!
Awesome early fliegerbluse! If you display it with the RK, I would suggest either a pilot or FJ badge, as I think pilots or paratroopers would be more likely to have won the RK (as opposed to an observer or AG/RO).--Kevin
Thanks, Kevin. I think your logic has a lot of sense. At this rank I think RO/AG would be inpossible. I believe he would had to have retrained at officer level to either observer or pilot.
A nice, thin pilot badge ................ and a shirt and a tie .......... and a beltand if you have loops
EK1 + fighter clasp
or ribon bar with minimum EKII (not optional)
Fran?ois, a belt is a possibility! I'll replace the shirt with one of a better colour eventually!
RichSuperb!! The addition of an EK1, ribbon bar and perhaps a gold operational flight clasp would be all that?s needed.
Thanks John, much appreciated. As I do not want to alter the bluse at all I wont be adding any loops but I have and idea that involves dressmakers pins that might allow me to 'add' a few badges. Will keep you posted.
Superb blouse. Any LW badge would look good on it - put a different one on every month!Scott
Scott, thanks. Now there's an idea!!

Prewar pilot badge!
Gene
That's what currently is used in the pic. It's a tombac Assmann of the slim, pre-war variety!!

Now for the dilemma...
Obviously a piece like this needs to be displayed. My problem is that I don't know if I should give him:
Pilot badge, or
Pilot / Observer, or
Observer, or
Fallshirmj?ger
Suggestions??
Rich
ps that particular RK is not attributed.

The shirt is Debenhams but it will do for now. Thanks for the comments

Here's a piece I'd like to share with you now that I have a mannequin to display it on.
It's an untouched standard (not private) made fliegerbluse to a Hauptmann of flight.
There are a few collectors I'd like to thank for helping me with this one...
Firstly Fran?ois for locating it. After asking if he knew of any for sale he directed me to it through another collector. Also, Gene and Jos for taking the time and patience to look over the pics I had sent them and casting their expert eye over it in fine detail.
I'll let the pics do the talking.

This one is interesting as it seems to be a bit of a mix between the 100 and 101 series!! The earcups and labels say 100 but the throat-mike set-up says 101.

OMG I can't believe so few are interested.
Yes, it's the Deumer. Congratulations to the winners! The prize is some more free air!

If you'd like a bit of fun...
Can you identify the maker of this observer badge from the head??
There are only a few to choose from so it shouldn't too difficult for you die-hards out there!

Sorry, but it a reproduction. Here's how an original should look.

I don't know the reason for the smaller rings but if I had to guess I would also say for the mounted medal bar.

Avsar,
Very nice selection of stars. Could you possible post a picture of the back of the 81 mm diameter piece?
Thanks

That one seems to be in very good condition!
I have seen a few with that type of webbed-strap for the throat mikes and others with just the leather staps and pop-studs. Is this type as shown a later variation?
Quite often the netted flight helmets have very short cables (like this one). Does anyone know why?

That's a lovely tunic. Is this the one you sold your medical fliegerbluse for?

Very nice postcard. Out of interest, what's was the number of Balthasar's Kills over how many combat flights? It would be interesting to work out his ratio.

Excellent original
Phew! That's a relief! Thanks Gene!
Beautiful condition!!HelloVery nice. I like it a lot.
Snoopy
Hello!Very good.
All the best
Thanks guys!
There is incredible workmanship these. I assume these are not hand-made but with a specialised sewing machine? Does anyone know what process was used?

I have read with interest the 'worry' about these badges but never really could see why suddenly there were questions about them.
I believe the question arose as to why do only late flight badges have LDO markings (and only Assmann). The answer, I believe, was as their distribution was controlled by Gorings offices, they were not availble for private retail and it was only towards the very late stages that luft badges could be bought privately.
Just because a late zinc L/64 badge is in mint condition doesn't have to mean it is fake and nor would it worry me to own one. I once turned down a mint silver class CCC because the finish was so good and so complete that I thought it must be bad. Well it wasn't and it was probably the nicest I have seen. Ever.
I don't have any L/64 pieces myself, in fact I have no zinc flight badges because firstly I am paranoid that without proper care the finish could deteriorate rapidly while in my care and secondly I don't like the loss of finish that they usually have.
The reality is however, that we have no idea if these L/64 pieces continued to be made post May 1945.

Thanks Rich for the info, I was also wondering, are the zinc cored RK's a little bit cheaper than the iron cored examples? Bruce
Bruce
From what I have seen, yes, and the most expensive being the lazy/micro 2

One from me but FJ. Feldwebel Erich Schuster, Gruppenf?hrer 3./FschJ?gSturmRgt. I believe he won his RK in the battle for Crete.
