Congratulations on obtaining your rare badge. That was some update that it was in and quite a few shared the spoils!

The way the pin is mounted in the hinge feels flimsy. Are your OM's like that too?

Well it was time to achieve another first for my collection... You don't see them often and Marc's beauty from the Kassel show was the motivator.
Underneath the patina is a almost mint finish. Difficult to capture but when the light catches the highlights they sparkle.
Some pics to follow for your viewing pleasure.

After drooling over Marc's OM from the Kassel show, I'm happy to have added this OM to my collection.

Hi Gordon,
Nice clean Tuxedo medal bar you have!
From the back I can tell you that it looks like a typical medal bar put together from Godet, la cr?me de la cr?me jeweller and medal dealer in WWI & WWII.
ciao,
Claudio

I had suspicions it might be a Godet bar but what actually tells you it is? I had thought from the Hanseatic as I recall seeing one like this one ebay in a Godet marked case but didn't save the pics so I couldn't confirm. Do you think the EK2 is also Godet?

Guys,
Thanks for the comments.
Rick, I know what you mean about the usual finish on Hanseatics. I have another on a court mounting and the quality of the centre disk is quite bland when comparing to this one.

Thanks for the attempt. I'm hoping the unique style of numerals will help ID this one.

Sorry to see that your pride and joy is a modern reproduction.
This is also a prime case that shows there still are engravers out there that can still produce superb engraving. Beware everyone!

By all means! Here's the back. A little mothing but thankfully no damage to the ribbons.

I recently acquired this trio and would like to show pics of it. The Hamburg cross is a real beauty and the Hindenberg is non-magnetic. The whole bar exhibits super quality.

Can anyone identify the maker of this EKII? The numerials are fairly distinct so might help.

Very tasty badge! You might find this interesting:
Amelung, Heinz-G?nther Luftwaffe Hauptmann 5./Stuka-Geschwader 77 15. Juli 1942
That's right, an RKT!!

Here's a pic of the catch on my Schneider. No evidence that it has been any other shape other than what you see here.

Nice flaks! No immediate problems with you badge Rosenberg. Here's another to compare. If I remember correctly there are 2 styles of eagle which can be found.

I personally think the 'bridge' is there on purpose and only on later badges, especially zinc, as a strengthening measure. I have seen 2 styles of catch on tombac examples, the ? and a straight-up and over catch. If I get light tomorrow I'll post a pic of what I mean.
I like your badge mucho, nice patina and even though a repair to the pin/hinge, a nice badge.

Here's my minty example. I have one other which has heavy patina and lightly convexed and a minty L/52 1914 EK1 with WWI style frames.

Very nice Assmann you have posted.
Thanks for the complements on the photography. I am no expert and use no special techniques! I take my photos in natural light near a large window (my back to the window so the badge receives as much light as possible) and use black velvet as my background.
My camera is an Olympus C-765 UltraZoom (4.0 Megapixels). I use a small tripod that I got from a local camera shop that cost ?10.
That's it! I take 4-5 pictures and vary the settings on each and hope for the best.

Rich
