Do you think the bidders realise they're only getting photos?

Both are stunning examples. I'm sure you bought something nice to replace the DKiS when you sold it!?

The back looks cast to me. I can see quite a few pock marks and there seems to be a lack of sharpness overall.

The labels are obviously in French. The bottom row on the label looks like a series of numbers starting with 7 and ending in 0??

Most likely the helmet was re-issued, which would explain the green paint over the original parade blue.
Another method I heard of removing the decals is using a strong tape to pull them off. Don't know if that's a good idea though. If they haven't been lacquered over then I think the water approach would lift them or maybe use steam.

Wow, Eric!!!!!
You certainly join the club with style!! I'm not a member BTW and the way prices are going I think I'm going to be always looking in to the club from the pavement.

I like them purely as a collectors set but not to replace what we currently have.

on the same topc, some prople attribute this badge to a special case - no?
I do. I believe this is the correct case for the OM:
http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=4144&hl=kassel+OM
Langemark also found a grouping at the 2006 Kassel show with a mint OM in the same case but unfortunately the pics are no longer in the thread.

I once asked Detlev Niemann what "O.M" stood for and he replied "Otto Meybauer".
Stan
I recall Otto Meybauer being mentioned before in relation to OM but nothing concrete was supplied to back it up.

The case is no thicker than normal. While the badge gives the impressio of being thicker, it's not much thicker than say a J2 so it maybe fits more comfortably in the case. The interior or the case is lined with a blue border which is unusal for a luft case and more like a case for EK1.

Here's my example which come in the correct case for this maker.

That is a wonderful display... both the cupboard and the goodies...
When you say "Build" do you mean you are a Do It Yourself king... or an Ikea Screwer togetherer ?
Best
Chris
Ah! Ikea screwer togetherer but a solo effort ! Just me and the cordless hand-drill! The wife just looked on...

nice fliegerbluseRichard,
Nice display, but I'm biased!
Very nice piece, Richard. I think you should do a recreation of my uncle as CO of 9. JG 3 in the summer of 1940, so you need EK 1 and Spange, PilotObserver (J1), Juncker WW 1 Pilot Badge, WW 1 Wound Badge in Black and a Feldspange. Or you give me the Fliegerbluse and save yourself the trouble......Thanks guys.
Vince as I have no J1 pilot/observer I have failed in your request. Therefore you'd better PM with your address...
