Hi Peter thanks for your reply I have posted on the Turkish section and waiting to see if I get a reply.Thanks Joe for the pictures but I think the board is a different shape to yours this is more oval than round but I could be wrong.So frustrating as it came with the German boards and was picked up by the Australian soldier as souvenirs with the German trench club (direct from family). Joe can you post a picture of the bottom of your boards. Rob

    3. Joe it's sewn on properly and it is not brass.I have got wound stripes in my collection and this is done properly as a rank.I have better front and back pictures posted on the thread for unknown stuff on this site. Rob
    4. Thanks Joe,but not sure what this off but the thing that looks like a wound strip also looks like the piping you have on German caps same width I assume this is some sort of rank display on the board ? Thanks Rob

Hi Chip thanks for clearing that up for me and giving me the link to the other research.I have posted that odd shoulder board on the British section and have a reply that it is not British but possibly German also I have posted on the Turkish section also you never know.So if any one can nail that strap for me that would be great. Hi all I have this shoulder board which I thought was German but I have been told this is not correct.This came with some German shoulder boards an a German trench club with an Australian medal group and apparently was souvenir by the chap.Can any one tell what this board is the one on the left maybe British?     12. Also forgot to say the 2 straps that are the same are a leather material and the single non marked one is wool and the same color as the British uniform color.

Hi Perce, all I have on these guys is they shared shooting down 3 aircraft on 29 July,12 Aug and 17 Aug 1917 when he and the Turner were both wounded on the 17th Aug 17 and he died after.So any other info regarding him and Turner being wounded and flying,where he was stationed type of aircraft, so if you can scan any info from the records and email them to me at jrm@bigpond.net.au I would be most grateful. Hello Perce, Yes mate RAF he was 1 of 7 observers that for some reason went to the RAF from the AFC after training and was flying with Turner and was shot in the back on the 17.8.17 after landing he died 2hrs later at a clearig station the pilot was also wounded.Any info would be fantastic and I would be most happy to cover any cost involved.My email is jrm@bigpond.net.au Cheers Rob
    17. Hello all, am trying to research an Australian 2nd Lt C R Edson who flew with Lt MW Turner in 22 Sqd wounded then died on 17.8.1917,how would I be able to get the combat reports for that day and other days that he flew? Thanks in advance Rob
