On a whim I purchased a RAD sports shirt patch. Did some research on RAD and I can honestly say I am now working on a RAD collection. I too find the uniforms really nice and usually of good quality. Nice tunics by the way.

Very nice. Maybe some day a list will come out of the woodwork.

A nice piece to add to your collection. I came across mine by chance before I really knew anything about the badges.

I agree that this does not usually happen at the guild. I find that one of the most reliable sources for objects. Just goes to show you that you always need to be on your feet in this hobby.

Yes it is a button from a political uniform. The button also looks not so good. Could just be extremely worn out.

Is it possible to research a name? If so please send the link this way as well. The bundesarchiv is impossible and I rarely get any information from them. I too have pieces with names in them and was wondering how to search for them. Thanks in advance.

Nice photo...a little normalcy in a mad world. Wonder if the two are brothers and one is home on leave and visiting family. Thanks for posting

Who knows? If it was free or cheap it makes a great paper holder. I have never seen one like this. Would be nice to find out more about this piece.

Very true about that website. A shame so many crooks are out there. They flatly state that all items are guaranteed...guaranteed pieces of crap....

I have found that olive oil works great. Smells funny after awhile but since it is natural I believe it is better for the helmet. I also agree with generally leaving it alone.

Really nice buckle.. I'm jealous.

In one of my waffenrock uniform pants pockets I found cufflinks and the devices to hold the collar stiffner. I really love finding the little pieces becuase I feel that I am that first person to hold them since they were in use. I just put everything back because I feel that they belong to the pieces. Great forum discussion by the way.

Nice find. Excellent. Try and get a photo of the vet and share it with us.

Oh Lord stay away from that dealer. I can see honest mistakes but this is gross disregard for the truth. Consider yourself lucky to have a forum such as this to save you some big bucks. Good luck finding the award and completing your collection.

I also agree it is a good one. Thank goodness the cleaning did not do any damage.

Hi VonBeirStein, glad my posting actually helped someone, it's a minefield out there.
regards
Alex
Just saw more of these at last show I went to. The dealer had a great story to go with it. I humored him and just walked away. It seems every show I go to I now run into these. Your info is still helping me out. I have spred the word to collector friends of mine.

Gentlemen. This is e-ban we are talking about. Please don't forget a seller can raise the bidding price. This is not very difficult to do. I've known and caught people doing this same thing. Not everything is as it seems on e-ban. Never use that site. Stick to places you trust, e-ban is not one of them.

Where do I get the display stands that I see here on the site? Can't seem to find them anywhere. Thanks

Also, look at the stitching. It is perfect. I don't think the stitching was done that well. Remember, I believe the stitching was done by hand and that type of perfection is next to impossible. I am new to peaked caps, however this is what I have learned so far. Check the chin cord slider, if it is plastic, it is reproduction. A good general rule is if a piece is this expensive and this questionable..walk away and get a piece that has no questions attached to it. I used these rules to purchase my first cap. The oak leaves and cocade were reproduction. The rest of the cap was authentic. I told the dealer about this and he questioned himself. I recieved the hat for a steal. I replaced the reproduction pieces with originals I already own. Looks great. Great Deal. And yes, the RZM tag is suspicious. Older Allegeimene caps had the SS runes under the sweatshield. Hope this helps. Get more literature before a big purchase.

Don your help on this topic is invaluable to collectors who are tempted by one of these. I wish I would have researched before I bought my copy. Didn't lose too much money but through your site I learned enough to teach others and not to get burned again.
