The star was used by Austrian makers to denote bronze gilt. Also on bayonets
WEll at least i know the "pin" was made in Austria ...any idea on the maker of the badge ???
cheers

Hi Steve, looks like a nice badge !! I think that the star is a mark of a supplier of pins and ancillary parts not the maker of the badge. Possibly Austrian . Ferg1.
Cheers mate,
I have at sometime seen another pilot badges pin thus marked with a star, but sadly cant remember where !!
all the best buddy

This wing is sewn to a nice WWI Gabardine maternity jacket, it seems quite simple with no dots over the crown, and is on khaki...was this a normal occurence or is it known to anyone?
repro sorry

Brian,
Not really much to work from, If you dont mind me using your photo i'll ask on the landships WWI forum for you.
Regards Eddie.
The date on the post card should indicate a mark IV or V ,british WW1 tank, female and male versions depended on armourment.
You need to view the rear to get exact date as early one had a wheel to back ,and later were wider and then longer !!

If real, it's a beauty. I've seen them sell for 800-1200 euro. Others may have differing opinions but I think 1000euro is about the max I'd pay.
Thanks been offered ?600 and ?750 respectively so far.

The rear of the card.
Correct he is aviation section. He is not a qualified pilot or observer as no badge is visable. This would have been worn on the tunic breast .
The Insignia on beret appears about 1917 and was private purchase.

Hello,
the piece looks like a privately-made 1812 medal, with engraved inscription and large ribbon loop (rememebering that of some old, Austrian decorations). It has a nice look and patina: what metal does it look made of?
Best wishes,
Elmar Lang
Hello,
Inscription is the same as on the 1812 war medal and it is made in silver ,but gone to a nice dark patina.
It is the same size as waterloo minitures that i have seen.I am aware it is jewler made and period, just never seen a 1812 that size and wondered on value.
cheers
