i'd love to be able to catalogue the ever-growing
number of stamps such as these in unusual locations....
i remember seeing my first square box stamp and not being able
to get much of an answer as to its' source...

i would keep this even with an upgrade so that you
could display both front and back and the MM.
i actually LIKE the character of this one a great deal!!

DDD777-
very well done summary of this award.
it is the only TR award that comes close
to matching my interest in the EK, and one of
the few that conjures up the "breast star"
style of heraldry from earlier eras.

there are MANY different LV marked variations in terms
of numbers accompanting the LV stamp. don't have my list with me...
LV is a relatively rare MM.

my absolute favorite pistol, closely edging out the 1911 .45.
both are FUN to shoot, and look like they're related.
nice piece you have, along with the 2 P-38's!

crosses with silver marks were generally private purchase items.
percent silver include 800, 835, 850, 900, 935; there may be more.
hope this helps.

kevin is correct, and this area provides for many

Then there is definitely no possibility of this being a virgins cross..... ;-)
But there must be a better english expression for this... it was afterall not meant to be "Virgins"
Tom Young had a superd one of these a few years ago....
fur frauen und jungfrauen
"women and young ladies" more or less.

as a space filler....
all's well until "garantiert original".

Joe,
I think as a trooper I'd be pretty happy there. I see duckboards and what look like the entrancres to big bunkers--dry feet and cover--always good
Paul
paul-
no doubt the creature comforts were better!
still, just too grand a scale for me....

most trench photos evoke boredom or terror or
misery or carnage....
these evoke dispassionate, methodical planning and
reemphasize to me the grand scale of the lack of
thought for the lowest common denominator - the trooper.
eerie.

Dali is not the author of the second "portrait". It comes from a small magazine called "A la Ba?onnette!...", published in 1915-1919.
Cheers.
Ch.
that was tongue in cheek....
i think he was spanish.
just commenting on the bizarre nature
of the work, especially for a martial piece!
nice to know where it comes from - thanks!
