can still afford to collect!)

"filled in" by the recipient.

Post #101 = VERY nice medal bar for Proviantamts Direktor Rechnugsrat Eduard Benz
2 = W?rttemberg Crown Order (normally indicator of a field grade officer, so = Major or Lt Col)
3 = W?rrtemberg XXV Years Service Cross for King Karl (pre-1892)
5 = W?rttemberg's general Campaign Medal (1866...)
6 = W?rttemberg Jubilee medal 1889
That bar is a jewel.

with regard to the EK II, the dimensions are more in line with
a 1914 or later EK. the reverse has the fit and finish of a
typical '14 EK, and while the obverse is smoother than most of the
altered EK's i've seen, i still believe it to be altered. it has also been
repainted.
i will defer to SPM regarding the RAO, but it looks beautiful.

frame style would point to
inter-war or EARLY WW 2.
what a fine addition!

friedlander is a relatively common maker of EK's.

agree!
eagle's heads are vastly different,
even given the parallax.

Joe,
I'm no Latin scholar, but according to what I can find on the Internet it litterally means, "To Each His Own." But on one site I found it says that in this case it more closely means "To Each According to His Merits."
thank you, mike!
the second seems more in line with
what heraldry is all about.

very fine example, les.
i have not seen a four-poster such as
yours before (purchased by a bed manufacturer?? )
the most holes i've seen are on the plates which end up
being sewn to the inside of a jacket. they are much smaller in
diameter and number about 20.
this one's a first for me, and quite handsome!

great explanation!

magnificent shots, and magnificent examples, micha!
i am much obliged.
the blued example appears to have more of a flat, matte finish,
while the painted version is shinier/glossier.
(the advantage of having what appear to be mint, unissued
examples to compare!)
perhaps there is come technical person who could explain
what the bluing process is ???
thank you micha.
