"What is your main EK interest??"
ALL OF IT!!!!
nail on the head, there is so dramatically more
"stuff", and so much variation in the inventory-
not to mention quality of manufacturer....
the least of my imperial medal bars so far outshines
the standard TR issues - it was an artform.
the switch from TR to imperial was perhaps the
sanest step i've taken!!

i asked a $10 question and got a $50 answer. thanks, gordon!
not surprised to see boat made upgrades - i would imagine these
sailors became quite attached to an "old friend".

since i know little of these caps,
could you explain the significance of the metal band added to the visor?
also the embroidered figures on the strap??
my thanks!

there is a starkness in black/white photography
that is hard to match...

Medal of Honor day is tomorrow, March 25. In the spirit of the brave service members, many of which were awarded the medal posthumously, we present the Pentagon Channel’s production “Souls of Valor.”
This is a 55 minute video. Here is the link: http://www.dodlive.mil/index.php/2011/03/medal-of-honor-day-souls-of-valor/
Enjoy

the ribbons on the second bar....

i've often heard that the ROK troopers were REALLY hardcore sumbitches.....
maybe their tradition included keeping their awards in the family.

a curious piece for such a weapon....

Rocky is a trustworthy person - without hesitation I believe the above statement.
Hardy
concur-
i've known rocky for 10 years-
i am SURE that this would cause him
lack of sleep!

that horrid beak alone is enough to scare me off!!!
an aside, had a conversation with a wehrmacht vet
who said that being taken prisoner with one of these
patches on bought you a round between the eyes mere
seconds later....

Just to illustrate, a ribbon made Iron Cross first class from 1813
well known arrangement - and rare!! - for the 1813 EK 1,
but i've not seen this for representation of EK 1 of
later issues.

any idea of the year?

to use the vernacular of fine muscle cars,
this wehrpass is "cherry"!!!!
what a great find.

just on general principle, $1925 is WAY more
than i'd spend on this....
yes, it may be a private purchase, but it
would truly be a "low end" private purchase...
to me, it has the curb appeal of an AMC Pacer.
the hinge/catch doesn't bother me anywhere near as
much as the paint job...

i would imagine the poster is exceptionally rare!
all of your pieces are in wonderful shape.

the oakleaves and swords are not original.
whether they are period made is another
question, but given the relatively small
number of recipients and their status and
the fact that they were, in the main,
officers, i am not optimistic....

the condition of the medals, the ribbons, and
the cases are all excellent.
you have done well!
