Brian,
Thanks for posting these interesting documents and the history behind some of them. It made great reading.

Joe,
Yes indeed. The cloth versions were private purchase items. Theoretically the only way to get a cloth DK was to buy one. Only the metal versions were ever oficially awarded.
Having said that, a Waffen-SS DK winner I met swore that the only DK he ever got was the cloth version.
many thanks.
"appropriate" one from a local LDO businessman,
or continue production of a labor intensive act
requiring skilled people who were probably much
needed elsewhere...

GRRRR...
can't stand it when groups get split,
but love it when, occasionally, they get
reunited.
very impressive grouping here.
would he have likely received the metal
edition of the DK at this point in the war?
thanks!

"The Great Depression had devastating effects in virtually every country, rich and poor. Personal income, tax revenue, profits and prices dropped. while international trade plunged by ½ to ⅔. Unemployment in the U.S. rose to 25%, and in some countries rose as high as 33%.[3] Cities all around the world were hit hard, especially those dependent on heavy industry. Construction was virtually halted in many countries. Farming and rural areas suffered as crop prices fell by approximately 60%.[4][5][6] Facing plummeting demand with few alternate sources of jobs, areas dependent on primary sector industries such as cash cropping, mining and logging suffered the most

friends-
i am looking for an approximate value of
the IMPERIAL RUSSIAN NAVAL GUARDS UNIT KULM CROSS.
this has the basic shape of the iron cross, and 1710,
1810 and 1910 dates, one on each of the arms of it. it has
a back plate and a retaining nut which sit on a post for
attachment to uniform.
thank you for any help!!

love all the pictures, but #1 ("the raccoons")

i love the wide frames AND the delicate narrow-framed
crosses of 1914 issue. variety is the spice of life!
