i spend HOURS at shows looking at 1914 EK 2 MM's,
and while i see these from time to time, it is NOT one
of the more common ones i see. in fact, looking at my
MM list, it was one of my more recent finds. while that is not
a "scientific" fact, it means i looked through a lot of crosses
before i found an example. (i now have 66 variations)
as they say in NC, "you got you a gudun' there, boy!"
best,

okay, well now i have to compliment AND grovel....
i have 1914 EK 2's to trade (or buy) for a '57er
with a '39 frame,
AND
you have a SWEET example of just exactly that.
well done!

that's got my vote!
hint for looking at these:
ribbon off;
when you find the MM, look at
it from all different perspectives;
don't forget to examine the eye of the cross.
that's a nice one!

darrell-
would this last one then be a leftover
1939 frame?
thanks.

thanks, andreas.
i couldn't figure out what made the
obverse look like it does.
the reverse tells the story.
you have a real gem.

i have seen an example ot two of the frauen und jungfrauen
case, and this definately jumped into my mind upon seeing
the above case.
i am not sure, however, that the innards accomodate it.
beautiful case, nevertheless!

andreas-
i see what you mean about the gold content...
especially from the reverse.
was there a first layer of enamel(white) as a "filler"
overlaid by the typical blue enamel? the reverse of
your PLM gives it this appearance.
thank you for your comments.

much obliged, andreas!
it appears you have a fine example
there, and iwould assume solid gold.
thank you.

andreas-
would you be so kind as to give some background
for this PLM?
recipient?
date of manufacture?
etc.
i am wading through "prussian blue",
but am still in the introductory chapters.
my thanks,
joe

Posted
a recent pickup.
this is a 1914 EK 1 screwback in nice condition.
the reverse of the cross itself is stamped with a square box.
the reverse of the screwback is stamped with
VICTORIA DRGM.
am i making a BIG leap here, or does this
associate the two.
i look forward to your thoughts.
enjoy!
