gentlemen-
after a rather rough start in TR heraldry, i have
become a lover of things imperial.
i must tell you, however, what a pleasure it is to
see these wonderful TR period pieces! they certainly
do have a direct tie to imperial times, both in the
reipient's actions in the great war and in the manufacturing
which has not become overwhelmed by AH's endless
edicts.
thanks for a magnificent display!

this series of pictures is most interesting to me.
i look for these variations in 1914 EK 2's, and
have found ~60 so far.
very nice jpegs, and thanks for posting them.

bob and jacques-
many thanks for the great pix.
these are at times very moving in their
simplicity, and in my estimation add a
great deal of character to something which
is a source of great enjoyment to me anyway.
ditto on the posting parameters, frank.

i am working on finding each of the states'
iron cross equivalents. getting this one - the
wilhelm ernst cross - was a bit of a find!

uh...
apparently it arrived!
bill and i have made a number of trades
which seem always to be mutually satisfying.
i am the recipient of a pristine 1939 EK 2, 100 marked.
because i freely admit i am a computer chimp, i am hoping
bill might post a picture of it.
i WILL tell you that i can think of very few people i would
rather do business with. herr garvy consistently proves himself
thoughtful, humorous, and generous with his knowledge.
hope you enjoy the EK, bill!

i believe it was herr weitze who discovered these in russia
some time after the Berlin wall came down. i've seen them
at $700 + on occasion....

peter-
nice pictures!
sorry i couldn't help.
the square button case is the same style of
case that the "russian horde" crosses came in.
apparently they are not unique to the "26" cross
of BH Mayer.
love the K&Q's!!

are you referring to the 1939 issue with PK and LDO numbers??

i recently obtained 4 TR era 1914's.
1 pinback which is allegedly an L/11
and three screwbacks
an L/12
an L/16
and
an L 54.
none particularly mimic the schinkel shape.
perhaps the schinkel shape seen in early '39's
is also borne out in the early TR era '14's....
soon as i can get comfy with getting pictures up,
you'll see 'em.
very nice photos!
