really shouldn't be much of a surprise...
today being 14 july - Bastille day - i asked 15
consecutive patients what it celebrated.
one of them was close with "Canadian Independence day"....

i read in our local paper this morning that john demjanjuk,
while cleared of activity at treblinka, has been charged
with involvement in the deaths of 29,700 inmates at sobibor.
it has been about 2 months since his deportation, and german authorities,
based on new photographic documents of him were quick to charge him.
i'd be interested to hear if anyone knows anything more.
thanks. joe

from a structural standpoint, wouldn't pure silver be rather
impractical and soft?

i'm surprised he survived 5.5 years...

re: the imperial WB's
yes they did, eric, and even smaller ones,
not to mention a multitude of sizes in stickpins.
can't really comment on the '39ers, but this setup is
very reminiscent of the imperial and interwar production.
yours is a nice one!

i love this cross!
while i like thin, delicate frames, this wide frame
along with the character of the core makes this a
winner.
welcome on my wall anytime!

Thanks a lot for your comments Joe,Jim,Kev & Bill. I will treat it as 100% repro and store it carefully in the rubbish bin.
Regards, Shaneos3
i actually have a few pieces that i bought when i had relatively
more money than brains which are mounted - and labelled repro -
to remind me that sometimes it is a pretty close call.
take the lesson and learn from it!

Joe, I haven't heard the term "slag" used in years...
i'm just a coalminers daughter...

i agree with jim.
this "version" has the remnant slag
in each of the corners on the inside
of the frame, and the frame itself
has nothing of the delicate appearance
that makes the schinkels so beautiful.

Rex doesn't sell original anything.
ALL of his wares are reproduction,
and i've not known him to attempt to
beguile or mislead.
i think he will listen to your concerns,
but i'm not concerned with where his
heart is.

no apology necessary re: your translation.
very readable and your effort appreciated!

i think at least one explanation rests in
using parts from manufacturer A and manufacturer B....
use what you have rather than make a whole new run of cores, frames,
and even suspension rings....

it's cheaper....
she MUST have been broke to alter an EK 1.
