A view from the balcony of the second floor showing the enterance into the museum. Notice the troops on the right hand side of the picture. They have a test and the squad leader has the questions and the whole squad participates in finding the answers in the displays.

I believed that the Ying/Yang symbol were originally intended to be little badges on the medal ribbon, but often fell off which is why later versions have ribbons with the design woven in?

Paul,
Nice flag!! It's too bad your ex got rid of the other one as like you say, you can never replace the original.

Ammar has posted this same medal on the Iraqi Militaria Forum and asked what we thought of it.If I was to see this medal at a military show or on ebay, I would think it is a fancier Saddam Portrait Medal. There are many kinds of Saddam badges with him facing many different ways. Your sample has a nice patina on the reverse and the ribbon is used on other medals. We may start to see more different badges and medals come out of Iraq so we can't just judge something different as a fake or fantasy item. Finding proof one way or the other will be the hard part.
Posted is a Saddam Portrait Badge in my collection and is also on page 98 of my book that has a similar design as your medal but Saddam is facing a different way.

The National Prisoner of War Museum opened in 1998 and is dedicated to the American men and women who have suffered as prisoners of war. The museum is a part of the Andersonville National Historic Site at Andersonville, GA.
It is hard taking pictures inside a building with so much glass reflection but I tried my best. What pictures do you take since there are so many exhibits? Below are some of the pictures I took.
What is a P.O.W.?

This is an Silver Egyptian Paratroop Wing I picked up at the military show in October. It was with a bunch of items that came out of Baghdad, Iraq.
Does anyone know what the red cloth backing behind the wing represents?
Could Iraqi's wear Egyptian Wings? Did the Iraqi's once train with Egyptian Paratroopers? They are
3-5/8 in. wide and 1-5/16 in. high.
The reverse is marked Tawfeeq Al Shami who was an Egyptian Orders and Medals designer.
