This is one of the most impressive WWI museums I´ve ever seen!! Many thanks for sharing these pictures!
My friend who showed us around Kansas City, has been to the Smithsonian Museum in Washington, DC. and he says this museum's WWI display is even better than the Smithsonian. There is definitely alot of interesting items on display but so much is behind glass which makes it hard to take pictures with the glare and reflections.
I was talking to one of the board members and apparently they have found a way to come up with another 5,000 sq. feet of room. They are planning on doing revolving displays and change them every so often.

Chuck,
It's good to hear from you. I was't sure what to expect . Sometimes the museums are great and sometimes not.

Artillery and mortar of all kinds.
The simulated artillery crater is from a 17 inch artillery shell that hit a French Farm House.
The "crater is 30 feet across and 15 feet deep to simulate the damage it could do.

While at the ASMIC Convention, me, my wife and two friends went to the World War I Museum in Kansas City, Missouri. There is a lot of items to see there. One of the curators told us only 10% of the items they have is on display.
I took some pictures to share with the members her so enjoy.

How many tables were there? Our ONLY New England militaria show is hosted by the local ASMIC branch once a month and we are lucky to get 40 tables.
Rick,
There were probably 200-225 tables there as you have to remember, this was their yearly convention.
I know what you mean by trying to get dealers to come to a show. Twice a year there is a Military Show at the State Fairgrounds in Minneapolis,MN. and each year there are less and less dealers. Even at the ASMIC Convention, I noticed how many of the dealers are in their 60's to mid 70's and very few younger ones. Even the customers who came thru the door were of the same age and only a few of younger age. Do you notice the same thing in your area? In another 10 years, a lot of the older dealers will be gone. It makes a person wonder what will happen to the collecting hobby.

Cool Thank you for sharing with us
Was their any foreign medals? Soviet, Serbia, etc?
Rogi,
I saw every kind of medal there. East and West German, Soviet, North and South Vietnamese, etc. One of the guys was selling out his beret collection. he had 6 Boxes (probably 200 + or -) of them there from all kinds of countries. Some had emblems and some didn't. Some of the berets didn't have any markings inside so who knows which country they belong to. The seller said he still had 70 boxes full at home. I have never seen so many berets in one place at one time.
I sold some of my Soviet, Belarus and Ukraine Arm Patches that I had taken along. Still have my Soviet Badges and Medals left.
In post #5 the third picture from the left has East and West German badges that were for sale. Maybe you don't collect badges.
All in all, I had a good time there as there was plenty to see.

I went to the ASMIC (American Society of Military Insignia Collectors) Convention in Kansas City, Missouri last week. This was my first time at their convention so wasn't sure what to expect.
The show was held at the Kansas City Expo Center which was really nice and roomy. There were plenty of exhibitors there, some selling and some display only. The display only were displaying for prizes in the organization.
I took a few pictures. They may not be the best but here they are.
