    1. Hi Gents,

Another Dual EK I with a new twist for wearer. This unit has a double hooked Spange. Both the Spange and EK are unmarked. Obviously jeweler made or modified. With an expertly applied hinge placed between the Spange and EK. My only though hear might be to prevent the uniform from puckering when the person was in motion or bending etc. Please - any other ideas / suggestions would be most appreciated. Thank You.

    2. Hi Rocky,

both tinnies date as far as i know from the same period 1916-1918. hermann was an austrian producer.

i'am not very much into tinnies, i have only books where some are pictured. i guess both are not that common. if you want to sell them once i would try ebay because the market for turkish tinnes is beyond rationality and the prices are very high at the moment.

Thank you for all your help haynau, ebay sounds like a plan for me.

    3. @Rocky

      A) Silver Pin of the Red Crescent Fair 1916/17

      B) Commemorative Pin of the victory of the dardanelles showing 2 guarding soldiers. is there a reverse side also showing enver pasha?

      regards

      haynau

      Thank You haynau,

jpgs of the reverse, only a makers name. Are these common and is "B" from the same time period?

    4. Gentleman,

Several of you have been looking for a copy of Stephen Thomas Previtera's 1st edition " The Iron Time " Well there is a copy on eBay # 130098811477 . Sorry, when I first posted this I left a number out, it is correct now. Good Luck!

    5. Rocky,

It states that ?H.Vierdag? is the representative for the Netherlands, and then goes on to give the PO box number, town, address of shop, bank etc.

To find the maker you would have to look for a maker mark on the items. Having such a diverse range, I would go for ?Assmann? or ?Deumer?

      J. Temple - West,

The sample board is very well made, the various insignias are attached through the black velvet covered board and tightly secured. The board is set into the frame and the reverse is covered with fabric on the back and paper on the corners. The front and back boards are riveted together as you can see on the obverse inner corners. So there is no way to see the makers mark. I did check the part numbers with my Assmann Catalog and they do not match.

But they could have used different numbers in other countries? Thanks for the translation and thank you Bob and Paul for your compliments.

More questions or information would be appreciated. Thank You

    6. @Dond-yes,the one with the hooks is a Godet.

@Sascha-for me it seems to be that Knauer not only made FA crosses,it looks like he also was a retailer-I've seen a few cased ones I would also call private purchased.....but anyway,it came in this case and it will stay there.

      Micha

      Micha,

Excellent example, actually excellent examples. The cased FA with that configuration screw back is pure top shelf. :speechless1:

    7. Gentlemen,

I recently found what I believe is an excellent Austrian Coin. It is about the size of a US Dime dated 1914. I thought it was a bit rare since it was in such great condition. Can someone either point me in the right direction for information or tell me anything about the coin such as what it is called, is it Austrian and is is common or rare? Thank You.

    8. What metal IS this constructed from? Is it a white non-tarnishing brass-ish alloy (not sure exactly what it was), or nickled tin (magnet will stick) or ... aluminum.

I've seen various "popsicle stick" type hangers, intended to keep the medals from swinging about, but the crudely hand snipped catch does give me some pause.

Have you blacklighted the Red Eagle ribbon?

Odd dual-state long services do show up, but the PRE-1913 ribboned Prussian with the M1913 W?rttemberg does seem odd as a "both models" pair.

Of course, being hook back and not permanently attached, it is never guarnteed that what is hanging on a hook back bar is what was there originally. That could have been a General Decoration Medal rather than a Red Eagle-- the style would be more appropriate for enlisted than officers

      though even there "not always."

What the metal actually is and whether the Red Eagle ribbon's white glows bright electric blue would be the answer.

      RicK,

The metal is non magnetic, non plated, my guess would be aluminum. The ribbon has been black lighted and does not glow. Every ones comments so far have questioned the Dual State Long Services Awards, and I also do not have an answer. The Red Eagle is authentic, which is good for me. If I could find a correct ribbon I can add it to my collection of single awards. As far as the Medal Bar stands it is no longer for sale, but I would still like to continue to discuss the question of the metal hooks vs. authenticity. All good points so far. Thank You.
