    1. I struggle with the same temptations Chris. I often think about trading or selling to gain items more relevant to my current collection. Then I think back to when I was a kid and how my Grandfather never really saved any of his items from WWII. He regretted it because of my interest and I think I would regret it if my kids or eventual grandkids turned out to have an interest... And theres also the greed factor . Scott.
    2. Sorry Paul, I meant that me not remembering doesn't mean much... The old noggin ain't what she used to be. Scott.

    5. Not that I recall, but that doesn't mean much these days . I do recall that the Customs agents had I.C.E. on their nametapes and on the back of thier DCU jackets. Scott.
    6. The other thread has the picture, there was a bad storm last night and I had a few computer glitches while posting... Must have double posted without the image on this one . Perhaps admin can remove this? Scott.
    7. The nickeled weapon was quite solid and of great quality, the gold ones seemed cheaply plated and were for flash as you say. Still, I would have loved to keep one . Scott.
    8. Sometimes they wore DCU's but not with insignia like this. These were made as a commemorative for the agents. Scott.
    9. Thanks Paul, there were only 70 and all of their logistics and support was done by the USAF. Scott.
    10. It's not indicated on his discharge but I would think that it wa Biak Island as I am pretty sure his unit wasn't on the initial landings at BUna in New Guinea. I sure wish he were still here to ask... Scott.
    11. Here are the Albanians giving most of my soldiers a lesson in soccer. Scott.http://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_07_2010/post-4139-127960572962.jpg.jpg]
    12. Maybe we could have a thread with members posing with Famous people or their wartime likenesses? Here is me with a captured Saddam Hussein billboard, Mosul Iraq 2004. Scott .http://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_07_2010/post-4139-127960509501.jpg.jpg]

    15. Some gold and nickel weapons that I had very brief posession of while in Iraq. I am sure that these now reside with some retired Colonel or General . Scott http://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_07_2010/post-4139-12796041729.jpg.jpg]
    16. This is a picture of a worker near the crossed sword monuments in Iraq. He was gathering loose helmets and replacing them in the monument. Many of these were looted by U.S. Soldiers looking for souvenirs. They were available from him for a small "tour" price. As they are all painted a hideous green and none retain a liner, I declined... http://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_07_2010/post-4139-127960367588.jpg.jpg]
    17. This is my late Grandfather who got me started in collecting. SGT. Paul B. Scott, L-Company 34th Infantry Regiment, 24th Infantry Division WWII. His medals and awards include the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with bronze star and arrowhead. The American Campaign Medal, The American Defence Medal, The WWII Victory Medal, The Army Good Conduct Medal, The Bronze Star, and the Combat Infantry Badge. He shipped out for combat on Dec 8th 1941 and didn't return home until 1945. He served in New Guinea and at Biak Island in Indonesia. He is standing in my old collection room. Truly a member of the "greatest generation". Scott. http://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_07_2010/post-4139-127960260116.jpg.jpg]
    18. Here is a nice fully emboidered two sided Saudi Arabian flag that I removed from a vehicle following the liberation of Khafji in 1991. This is perhaps my favorite souvenir of Gulf War I. Scott. http://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_07_2010/post-4139-127960137037.jpg.jpg]

    21. I worked with the FBI in Baghdad and the station chief and I grew up about two blocks apart in Detroit. We had some fun times and they gave me the following patch and coin when I moved up to Mosul. Scott. http://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_07_2010/post-4139-127960085496.jpg.jpg]
    22. The Albanian Komando SSI, hat crest and National Colors that they gave me upon my departure. I was told that the Komandos don't allow many to receive their SSI, so I was very honored to receive these. http://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_07_2010/post-4139-127960056749.jpg.jpg]
    23. Their English speaking liaison officer Major Muho. A good man who taught me a lot about the Albanian Army. http://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_07_2010/post-4139-127960037142.jpg.jpg]
    24. While in Iraq in 2003-2004 I had the pleasure of working with the Albanian Komando unit in Mosul. I thought I would post a few pics here. This is me and a counterpart with some of the Komandos at their HQ at the Mosul Airport. http://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_07_2010/post-4139-127960019477.jpg.jpg]
