    1. Thanks Christophe. What would be the second smallest serial number you have seen... ninja.gif

Also forgot to welcome you here. Welcome!

I would like to add more numbers to this small data base, three numbers counts as pretty small...

      /Kim

      Thanks Kim, for your welcome.

I have in fact no real database for this order, but just saved some pics seen here and there. But I remember that the Serial Numbers where (if I'm right) all in the same range of 5 hundred something. That was intrigating. But the sample of pics I have is very small (around 5-6 I think).

As they are not in this present computer, I'll have to dig in the other one, and I'll keep you informed.

Thanks again for the welcome. smile.gif

      Cheers.

    2. Gerd: Yes, gold and red enamel go very well together beer.gif  I only wish it was real gold instead of just plated.

Christophe: What is the lowest number you have seen? The reason I ask is probably because I have read the McDaniel book one too many times... speechless.gif

      Kim,

As far as I remember, the lowest number I have seen is... yours (SN 0155) !! Congratulations !!

Maybe others have seen lowest numbers ?

      Cheers.

    3. I've never seen a Kitel that COULD be buttoned "either way," and yes indeed  ohmy.gif  all the medals are facing the correct way being worn on the wrong sides!

I tried flipping the image around, but could not do anything except make a WRONG mirrored image.

The only thing I can think of is that this was printed from the wrong side of the negative... somehow.. or something.  speechless.gif

I have seen photos with ONE "M1943" ribboned medal worn on the incorrectly over the right pocket, but always so blurry and distant that WHICH oddball medal was being worn that way doesn't show.

Mindbogglingly inexplicable!  A great bizarre photo!  beer.gif

The image is not mirrored nor a negative... Just look at the medals; as said, they are facing the correct way.

One hypothesis is simply that this guy did not really took care of the wearing regulations (or did not know them very well... or just wanted to make a slight provocation...).

Probably he was not very cautious about his uniform look and medals display : just have a look at how the ribbons of the medals are flipped...

      Cheers.

    4. (...) On the question on how many awarded... Well, I have mine, no 155, and I have seen no 519. So I think about 1000 or less made would be close to the truth.

      (...)

      /Kim

That seems a good estimate. I have not yet seen this order with a serial number higher than 0580.

    5. Here is a short update on the Eurofighter Typhoon programme.

On 2 September 1998, "Eurofighter 2000" has been re-named "Typhoon" for export markets.

A production contract for 620 Eurofighter 2000 aircraft was signed in January 1998.

Prime customer is the NATO Eurofighter and Tornado Management Agency (NETMA), representing the UK, Germany, Italy and Spain.

The repartition between the 4 countries is : 232 for the UK, 180 for Germany, 121 for Italy and 87 for Spain.

Initial orders have been placed for 148 aircraft: Germany (44), Italy (29), Spain (20) and the UK (55).

The first four series production aircraft for the four participating nations took maiden flights in February 2003 and the Eurofighter received type acceptance, a prerequisite for entry into service, by the four services on 30 June 2003.

The first series production twin-seat aircraft were delivered to the German Air Force in August 2003, to the Spanish Air Force in September 2003, to the UK Royal Air Force in December 2003 and to the Italian Air Force in February 2004. The first single-seat Batch 2 aircraft were delivered to the four participating nations in early 2005.

The four participating nations signed the contract for Tranche 2 production in December 2004. Tranche 2 comprises 236 aircraft: Germany 68, Italy 46, Spain 33 and UK 89.

Tranche 2 deliveries are scheduled to begin in 2008 with final deliveries scheduled for 2015.

Greece also selected the Eurofighter (60 aircraft) but finally cancelled this, following a change of government.

Austria signed a contract for 18 Eurofighter aircraft in August 2003, to be delivered from 2007.

      Hope this helps.

      Ch.
