Hey gang! Well....there's been a little more interest on this board lately! (alright! ) so I thought I'd post another buckle that recently landed at my doorstep! This is one that just does not come up for sale anymore!! Some collectors consider this one to be an early HJ Youth Leader buckle but I think most collectors consider it to be an early NSDAP Youth buckle. Wether it is the former or the latter is still up for discussion - but it's certainly a hard one to find - so I'm quite happy with it! Here are a couple pics! Cheers! Rob

Thanks Stu...I'm happy that you like it! Paul man: these buckles were only made for about three months in 1936 - from January to March. At this point - no one is exactly sure why the eagle was made to "look the other way". Many collectors - and I guess I'm one of them, think that it was done this way in order for these eagles to match the eagles found on many armbands and helmet decals (facing the same way). In any case....this didn't last. The buckle companies reverted back to making their buckles with the eagle look to his left instead of his right after 03/36. Hope this info helps. Oh - another theory is that this was an attempt to get the eagle to look in the same direction as pre TR buckles (Weimar). But no one knows for sure. What is known is that there are very few buckles like this given the short period these were manufactured! Hope that helps a little! Cheers! Rob

Here it is with another parade buckle with the eagle facing the other way.... You'll notice how different these buckles are made: eagles are different, the swastika is different and the writting is even different.

Well guys...sometimes it just happens this way. I'd always wanted a left facing Heer buckle and I actually got myself a pretty rare 40mm left facing example before landing this regular size 45mm puppy. That being said - these are also pretty hard to find - though not as hard as the 40mm type. This one is made by Gr??e from Essen. 2 piece type with a very different looking eagle (looks pissed off!) and a fat swastika to boot. Here are a few pics for you guys! Cheers! Rob

Hi Kevin....This is a well known reproduction! Stay away....not even worth $5!! In fact, any buckle that you see with that type of belt catch is a reproduction. That series of repros produced all kinds of buckles but always used that same type of catch. No good! Cheers! Rob

Here's the back....you'll notice there are no "ears" by the prong bar ..... that is typical of these 40mm buckles!

Hey gang! I've been waiting a long time to find one like this! Finally added one to the collection! For your buckle newbies - what sets this one apart is not that it is smaller than the reg. buckles. - it's that the eagle is looking in the other direction! All other buckles have the eagle looking to his left....this one had him looking to the right. These buckles were only produced from January 1936 to March 1936....only three months, making this buckle one of the rarest IMO! These were private purchase buckles used for parade. This one is as close to mint as you're gonna get! I'm quite happy with this addition! Here are some pics for you! Cheers! Rob
