    1. Took some better pics in daylight! Here they be....I have to say that I really like this helmet. Given that I've always gone for German lids - maybe because it's my first, I think it looks pretty cool! Cheers! Rob
    2. Hey Paul! Thanks for clearing that up...I was afraid that it might be displayed incorrectly. I'm on it! Thanks for the info on the other writting - names are what I thought they might be. I appreciate your time! Cheers! Rob
    3. Hi Paul! Nice to hear from you buddy! Glad you like it....I very much appreciate you sending him the link. Talk to you soon! Rob
    4. Hey gang! This is my first Japanese flag....comes only about three days after receiving my first Japanese helmet...perfect timing. This is a first for me - so I wanted to make sure that it came from a reliable source....first owned by Richard at Warrelics and then by Laurens - I was confident about acquiring this one given I know next to nothing about these! There are multiple "signatures" (at least I think that is what they are)....do any of these mean anything to anyone? Laurens mentioned that the writing inside the "meatball" says "Good luck Onto War"....does that make sense? Any help on the markings would be appreciated as always. I have a lot of respect for you guys. It can't be an easy task to learn to read this stuff! Awesome! Couple more things - looks like there might be a blood stain on it. Not sure - but it could be....Also - I was once told that these were never marked inside the red meatball.....this just goes to show that it isn't always the case I guess. Anyone else hear that? I've seen a couple other examples through the years with the writting inside the red - so maybe that's not true. Anyways - Any help is much appreciate.....I don't even know if I have it displayed right side up! Cheers! Rob
    5. Got it Paul! Very cool! I appreciate you giving me what you can! Your time is much appreciated! Cheers! Rob
    6. Here's a quickie shot of the helmet and where she sits.....More detailed pics will follow when the sun comes up! Rob
    7. Hey gang...Not sure if this is Kanji or not - it's on the liner of my first Japanese helmet. I will have to take some decent pics though - lighting inside is horrible and it's dark outside now. In any case - looks like the owner might have written his name inside the liner. Are any of you able to translate this stuff? No worries if you can't - thought I'd ask. Any help is appreciated! Thanks in advance! Rob
    8. Thanks guys! Glad you like it! I'll have to give it a go and check under the grips....and yes: more insignia and medals are always a possibility! The fun never stops! hahahaha Cheers! Rob
    9. Hey Rowan! Thanks for the thumbs up on my collection....it continues to be a work in progress. Yes, reference books will prove an invaluable tool when it comes to buckle collecting! Cheers! Rob
    10. Peter Nash and John Angolia both have some really nice reference books out there in regards to German belt buckles. Nash covers them from 1845-1945 but deals with box buckles. Angolia deals with ww1 to www2 buckles but also deals with officer brocades - not just enlisted men's buckles. Both books can be easily found on Ebay. Good luck! I have both books and they are good - though somewhat expensive. Cheers! Rob
    11. I don't think there's a book out there on buckles from around the world. Nash and Angolia pretty much have top spots for books on German belt buckles. Cheers! Rob
    12. I've also changed the armband for another. That one had a water stain and I sold it....acquired another in its place that is in better condition....just don't have pics of it with the hewer. Rob
    13. My pleasure - glad you like it. You can see that In the display pic I added a frog to the piece. I think it adds a lot to it. Cheers! Rob
