There were some items made for the 1940 Olympics ahead of time. Unfortunately the war scrapped the plans and every once in a while some item crops up that had been manufactured but never used.

Reverse.

Is this just a well worn piece missing its hanger or is this some type of electrotype copy? Weight is 20.5 gms and diameter about 34 mm plus. It appears to lack the detail of an original but that could be due to wear. It does have signs that there was a ring attached at the top. I'm also concerned about the "pimple" that is evident in the field just to the southwest of his chin (just short of the I in Maximilian). Any comments welcome.

I have a rare silver award medal for special participants/honored guests of the 1929 Reichsparteitag. I've only seen this medal one other time. Anyone have some background knowledge on this item or its value? Thanks.

This is a nice one. There are some silver versions floating around that have a "1000" at the bottom of the reverse. On another forum it was described as the silver content which makes on sense as there is no such thing as 1000 fine silver. I was wondering if anyone on this forum might have encountered these and have an opinion? I personally don't care for them and have my doubts.

And just one more. Here is a modern Austrian Bundesturnfest tinnie from 1971 that mimics the first one posted in this thread.

Here is a set of tinnies including the famous Breslau 1938 tinnie that all belonged to the same man. He was a WWI veteran who stayed active in gymnastics into his 90's. Note the date range of these go from 1933 to 1980, a period of 47 years!

Rick, I'm terrible with colors and their description. As I understand the hat is from her "everyday" work uniform. It does appear to be a dark bluish gray. I'll take a closer look at it when I get home tonight as I am currently at work but I think the photo pretty accurately shows the true color.

Gordon, I don't know about the neck badges indicating any type of level. The one that I received from my Grandmother is plain with no lettering of any type other than the word Wien at the bottom. I assume these badges only indicated something of the group to which they were attached. All I have seen look similar. Sadly she passed away before I developed my intense interest in military things so I was never able to have her provide me with information regarding the medals or badges.

Ed, these were passed to my mother initially who left them with a "professional" framing service to be mounted. They looked wonderful but one badge had, over time, fogged the glass in front of it. When she gave them to me, I elected to remove the items from the frame to clean the glass and mount some additional items I had received from my grandfather in the same shadow box. To my horror the "professional framers had glued all the badges to the back of the shadow box! It took a long time and painstaking effort to remove the concrete hard epoxy like resin from the medals and ribbons. I then mounted everything to the cloth backing using pins and cotton thread. I was appalled at what I discovered was done by the framers.
