    1. Nice item. Thanks for sharing the picture and the info. Ed
    2. Thanks for asking Dan. I haven't been able to get any responses yet. Ed
    3. Presented to members of the Strategic Air Command's Elite Guard/Drill Team.
    4. Commerative coin for the USAF Anniversary.
    5. Thanks Leigh, I did a search of the BRCS and found the cap badge so I guess we can "reidentify" this as a British Cap. One other thing; might you know of any site addresses that might display the uniforms, including hats? Thanks again, Ed
    6. Paul, Another question for you. Can you tell me if there is a difference in the insignia on my hat WITHOUT the banner reading "AUSTRALIA" and the one shown in the Wikipedia link here? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Royal_Australian_Corps_of_Signals Thanks, Ed
    7. Hi Bob, Any chance you might have any extras to trade? Drop me a line on my e-mail: keeneagle@verizon.net Thanks in advance Ed
    8. GORDON, Sorry for the color confusion. It is a dark green with the red piping. Ed
    9. GORDON, My hat is green as shown on the URL site I posted as well as one of my initial posts. So is it State Police? Ed
    10. Gordon, Check out this web site. Interesting ID on the hat we have been talking about. It identifies the dragon as State Police and the bomb as a Gendarmerie. It also show the red backing. http://dijcolorg.free.fr/collection-coiffes/pages/austria.htm
    11. Here's a view of the lable inside.
    12. Thanks Paul, As I said, I was a little skeptical about the "rare" part. Sorry about the quality but hope these will help. Thanks again, Ed
    13. I purchased this yesterday in a local antique store. The tag said "Australian Military Dress Hat (very rare)" I am a "little" skeptical about the "very rare" description, but hoping it is authentic. Can anyone help veryfy the description and help identify the insignia on the front. Thanks in advance Ed (GORDON/MERVYN: What do you think?)
    14. Thanks Gordon. Just got back from a couple of antique stores. Picked up what was identified as "Australian Army Dress Hat". I'll be posting pictures in the appropriate forum shortly. Thanks again for the info Ed
    15. AH Mervyn, The opportunities presented are endless!
    16. Sorry, the file didn't attach.
    17. I am an avid patch collector of police department patches and other police memorabilia. Whenever I travel I always carry my patch trader bag and try to stop at the local police department to see if I can get a patch or trade for one. Today I stopped at the local State Police Barracks and asked for a patch from the Arkansas State Police. The Sergeant apologized, telling me he didn't have any, but then said, I'll bet you don't have one of these! (see photo) It is one of their decals they put on the patrol vehicles! A 12" replica of their shoulder patch. I must admit, this was a first (and maybe the start of another segment of my patch collecting :-) Ed
    18. Gordon, What does Oberst equate to in US terms? Ed
    19. Gordon, Thanks for sharing. Sharp looking uniform. I especially like the collar tab. Thanks again, Ed
    20. Gordon, Please relay my appreciation to Bernhard. I humbly accept. Looking forward to hearing from you on the status of my eagle. Thanks again friend, Ed
    21. Gordon, Haven't heard anything of late. We will be leaving Austin, Texas this coming Thursday enroute to Arkansas till the 17th. Still have the envelope addressed to you in m planner. Any updates?
    22. Mervyn, No offense taken. I'm just glad I've been able to bring joy to some of the "older" generation I hope Gordon can find a solution soon, but as you requested; maybe not TOO soon. Ed
    23. Gordon, Glad I could bring a new light to this "simple" subject We will be staying at Altus AFB, Oklahoma Sunday night so I'll check in again then. I hope I have found something unusual and not a "fraud piece". As always, thanks again Look forward to our nextmessage session. Ed
    24. I'm sure anybody else reading these posts are holding their sides laughing! OK-here's the problem...the round red circle has the dragon's head "SEWN ON". It is NOT a metal piece attached. That is what was confusing me. If I take the circle off, the Dragon's head comes too! It appears to be sewn on in gold bullion. So-now what? (Aren't you glad you took on this project with me) Well, off to bed. We are at our first night's "bed and breakfast" at Hill AFB just north of Salt Lake City, Utah. Will be traveling on to Peterson AFB in Colorado Springs, Colorado tomorrow night (Saturday) so I'll try to check back then. Thanks for your continued patience friend. It is MUCH appreciated. Ed
    25. OK, you've got me confused again PLEASE excuse my ignorance. SO- STEP 1: Remove the circular cloth patch. STEP 2: Place the metal Flaming Bomb insignia in place of it, on the LEFT side. Correct? (I sure hope so) Ed
