    1. That last medal is not supposed to be a War Merit Cross. Someoneplaced the wrong pendant. I think that the medal pendant is supposed to be the Kyffhauserbund medal.

These medals are inexpensive to find, so it is an easy fix.

Excuse me for the abuse...But what do you think of the baden Verdienst medal, that somebody brutalized to fit the elongated ring in a round one...? possibly there are another different medal there???

    2. 1. The black center stripe is narrower and the red stripes are wider on the KVK.

      2. The medal bar is in the correct order if the medal was a Kyffhauserbund Medal and completely out of order if the medal was supposed to be a KVK2.

      3. There is no Hindenberg Cross Present, which should be on the medal bars of WW1 Veterans after 1934.

Thanks Paul. Really, I?ve always thought this one was correct , with the liitle add of the ribbon?s swords and so on...

So, The Ehrenkreutz is present always , after 1934???, There you have the reverse

    3. Miguel,

I believe that this is an upgraded 3rd class. This type of handwriting is found in the 200,000 and up range, and it seems to me that the last digit was erased.

Can you check if there is any sign of unevenness (small depression) where the last digit was.

      Marc

Sincerely...I can?t find any depression there, I?ve using magnified glass ans I thik that The normal incion of the others numbers is enough like to make a serious depresion in the erased point..., the scare in the front is definetively not gol washing in thier deep, so...We cab agreed that the medal had not re-golded after the scare was caused...

I think I can?t make more to try to find the truth, I?m amazed of the great thoroughness that the members of this club had show in this particular case.

thanks a lot to everybody. I hope to came, any day, as close as possible to your expertise...

      regards

    4. Miguel,

Your OGLII does not look bad, but I am uncomfortable with the dark trace at the right of the serial number. Could you make several hi-res scans of that specific area, turning the order 90 degrees each time. Also, a close-up of the central part of the tower (from above the clock to the top of the gate) would help.

      Marc

      The last...I think

      Here you have aHR closeup

    9. Dear Miguel,

many thanks for providing high-res scans  .

You are right: There are no traces of gold wash inside the scare :D .

Your Glory 2cl seems to me genuine, authentic and problem free.

Please get your Glory researched, because the 2nd class is rather rare - less than 47.000 had been awarded - and the citiations for a Glory 2cl are usually great.

The Order of Glory 2nd class with s/n. 20700 might have also been the veterans most superior award, because that s/n. is not listed in the directory of the Full Cavaliers of the Order of Glory at MIR NAGRAD http://www.mirnagrad.ru/cgi-bin/exinform.c...va&ppage=91 .

      Best regards

      Christian

Thanks Christian. Really I dont know where i can find any information on the star...I don?t know where I must direct me to try to get some informatio...USSR/russian sources are unknow for me.

If you can send me some "first steps", I?ll fell much obliged

      Thanks again

      Miguel

    10. Dear Hipnos,

it seems, that there is gold plating INSIDE the scare across the medaillon, which means, that the gold wash had been applied AFTER the scare happened to the veteran.

But who knows, maybe the gold wash had been applied a second time by the veteran himself or a juweller, what can be seen at some authentic Glory 2cl  ?

The s/n. on the revers looks - as far as I can see on the scan - o.k. At least, it might be a very low numbered Glory 3cl - full cavalier Sgt. Gnitienko http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=5536 had been awarded a Glory 3cl s/n. 35207 in april 1944 - and research + great citation might bring back the invested money to you :D , if you can put away the gold wash ...

      Best regards

      Christian

I?d send you a More detailed pic at 1200 ppp (epson perfection 3490), and a clse up- It looks like if the deep of the scare is free on gold wash...but I would your autorizated opinion

      Thanks

      Miguel (hipnos)

PS/ By the way I think I?ve pay for it 3 years ago at Budapest 150 USD

    11. Hello Miguel, I hope this helps

The Zealous Service 1877-78 medal was established on the 15th of February 1878 by Prince Milan Obrenovic.

It was awarded for "exemplary and zealous service during the war with the goal of helping the work of the army or in general with the goal of liberation and independence" (sorry for the rough translation)

It had two classes a gold and silver one. All in all 69 gold and 376 silver were awarded. Two of the gold were further decorated with brilliants. One was given to General Kosta Protic at that time the head of the army. The other was awarded to Jovan Ristic then the minister of foreign affairs.

      Ivan

Thanks a lot, Do you have some pics??

      Regards

      Miguel

    12. Hi Miguel

Thanks for informing me, your early Roumanian bravery bar is superb :jumping: don't see too many of those around. Come to think of it, dont see many bulgarian bars. Any idea why that is compared to the other Balkan countries.

      Sincerely

      Brian

No Idea, I?ve see photos of bulgarian officers, and some of the seems as if they have the orders/medals loosely mounted (one -to one, remember the triangular ribbons...I?ll continue to searching....No bar has been find in any seller at internet...(By the way I?ve see only a Greek bar on a International auction)

We must return toi speak on the matter

      Regards

      Miguel

    13. Hello Gentlemen

Picture from old collection, can anybody help identify the recipient of this bar.

Bulgarian Order St. Alexander w/swds on ring knight 1st type German make

      1879 Coronation medal ( 51 awarded )

Russia Alexander lll Zeal medal on St. Stanislaus ribbon

      1866 Bavaria War Cross

Prussia 1870 War Medal for Combattants

Roumanian Faithful Service Medal ( 1st type )

      Serbia Zealous Sevice 1877-78 War

      Turkish Order Medjidie 5th Class

Perhaps a soldier of fortune who fought in 4 foreign armies and later became a bodyguard or aide to Alexander l during State Visits to receive other medals. Any info would be fascinating to know.

      Sincerely

      Yankee

Wow What a Nice Thing...I?ve never see the Serbia Zealous Sevice 1877-78 War medal, I can?t find it in any book/catalogue??

Can you Lecture me on this medal...???

Thanks for show me this Bar, I?m agasped!!

      Miguel

    14. Thanks, but the yoke-arrows Pin I have photos in one of my books of the same, the Eagle on it I have no problems with as I have shown to a couple Spanish collectors who said it was ok. But the cross on the ribbon, I don't know yet, but will send photos to more Spanish collectors to see. The cross itself is made correct, but for what I don't know yet??

      thanks for the info.

      greg

      The Military cross

      Campaign medal (Upraising medal)

      Russia?s voluntary medal (Blue division)

The cross on the ribbon looks like an Asturian cross, (look at the Asturian Flag) so a memento of the Asturian Nationalist (Pro -Franco, I mean)

      Observer wings

An Falange Yoke and arrows with imperial eagle on it, a tinnie from Franco?s era...

I send you an Asturian Flag and the cross alone...(Visigothic one...)

    15. Yes, the Glory can certainly be researched, if

1- you are willing to pay for it and

2- it ever comes in (no luck, no charge) - reasearch has gotten VERY sporadic these day (I hope this means nothing in cosmic terms?).

Where I can find the researchers - by - pay (links. please).

I?ve no idea on this research matter, except in the (excellent) British WGC.

      Thanks for you kind answer

      Miguel

      Gentlemen,

what makes me worry, is the extreme bargain price of that group: USD 2000,- (not EUROs !) is far less, than you might get for selling the items seperated :jumping: .

O.K., maybe the seller doesn't know the price tags in Moscow or St. Petersburg ...

Anyhow, it can't be an authentic "sniper-group", because we all know, which awards Red Army Snipers got, due to the regulations  . Maybe the person, who got these long service awards, fullfilled his duties during the GPW in a sniper-unit, but had never the chance to kill enemy soldiers at the front line - who knows ...

      Best regards

      Christian

BTW: Please, have a look at the current price tags of a Lenin, RB or RS :D .
