Yes, in www.coleccionesmilitares.com/medallas/texto/alfonsox.htm you can see more on this CIVIL ORDER OF ALPHONSO X "THE WISE"
The Alfonso X el sabio (King Alfonso the tenth, called the wise), is an award to excellence in the academic and/or scientific field. Not frequent to find (Specialy the higher classes) but, definetively, not a rare one.
I can provide you with more details if you wants

Hello Kevin,
You presume correctly althought this local award has a political connextion too. The reverse legend rather explains it all :
The Brotherhood of Liberal Veterans of Schaarbeek to its President 29-1-38.
The Soupart guy was, according to the obverse legend, alderman of the Schaarbeek suburb in Brussels. As he's mentioned to be president of the society, I think it's safe to assume he was a WWI veteran himself (although, in politics, who can be sure ?).
Cheers,
Hendrik

Hi Paul
I have all except the 1st "1874 Formosa Expedition War Medal", not sure if any would even exist, and the last one "1941-45 Great East Asia War Medal" which can only be found as a repro, though I do plan on getting one eventually.
Congrats!!

Dear Marc,
many thanks .
"Soviet Verdun" & hughe losses indicate to the period after the Vlasov-debacle .
One of the meat grinding Volkhov battles of 1942/43 .
When to start and when to end ?
At the Novgorod Kremlin http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Novgorod_Kremlin there is a big monument commemorating the battles against the Nazis at the river Volkhov:

Hello Miguel
maybe you have seen already other items also without crown on my own website and on our Yahoo Group (by the way your email is not working on yahoo)
This is a variant and has no special significance. Almost all items that I have seen without crown are Franch production. You item is most probably Lemaitre. Lemaitre's items are ALL without crown. There are also few Russian made orders which also have no crown.
IMHO are Lemaitres pieces the most beautifully made Danilos.
Best regards and hope to see you back to the group
Milan
Thanks Milan, I?d long time want to own a danilo order. I?ve got a danilo merit cross (Very beautiful, probably austrian of manufacture), but this one has been ever difficult and expensive. I?d bough this one to radman...last Chistmas (my Xmas give)

IMO, this is one of the most beautiful awards I've laid eyes on. My research tells me it's a Bulgarian Military Order of Merit 4th Class. However, I'd like some assistance determining the period it would have been awarded. Should there be any maker marks on it? Are these faked? Finally, is there any information on how many were originally awarded?
Thanks in advance!
Scott
Congrats!!!!
What a wonderful piece!!
The bulgarian orders are very beautiful, and with a good design. It?s said that the Tzar ferdinan take a lot of interest in the orders and medals designs. I only had a MMO 5th. class with war decoration...
The ribbon correspond to orders awarded for Bravery in the field (So the the ribbon can be seen in others medals /orders, like the merit medal, "au lieu" of the customary red one...)

Hello, I?m Miguel Agreda From Spain, a newcomer in this forum.
I?m interested in balkan orders and medals. I have just bought a danilo order, and the cyrilic monogram "DI", is uncrowned. Somebody can explain me why or if this a know variant???

Hello!!! I?m a newcomer in this forum. I?m from Spain, and I?m interested in Balkan?s country medals.
The reference book I more trusted is the Romanov?s one...and the Silver bravery medal, (I owned one), is with the white - with red ribbon.

It?s always the same thing...They could be added later???, It?s difficult to know, if you don?t know the guy from who the cross came...Some sellers think that they can got more money if they add items...
